This could be problem with your cd. clean your cd from both sides with wet cloth or special cleaners and put it to your cd-rom again maybe this will help you.

What is the Lifespan of CD Drives? I have an HP dv7 that seems like the cd rom is not communicating well with the machine. Could it be software related?

Burning CD-R or DVD-R shortens the life cycle of any CD-R or DVD-R drive, while reading is generally. If you have burnt 1 disc per day, it is not surprising your DVD-RW drive is worn out.

1 detail to take into consideration: if you use ReWritable media, change them from time to time. I thought my DVD-Recorder was dead as I got a lot of non responding issue with DVD+RW media (while my computer had no problem to read these media), and finally getting rid off the old media and taking newer DVD+RW media has given the DVD-Recorder 3 more years.

Creater 7 will not record dvd or cds

Hi,

If you are getting an error "No dvd/cd drive detected", you need to delete the roxio certificate.

Goto C:\program data\, find the roxio or sonic folder and delete it and restart the computer.

I have a HP, I had to have my DVD/CD rom drive replaced. Now I don"t have the Sonic program that came preinstalled on my computer. How can I get it? Best Buy said that I had to restall it. But I have not...

Ok, when you replace an optical drive (in this case, your dvd/cd drive) you "don't have to uninstall any program". The replacement of such device does not require to uninstall any media burning software. Though, If the program is no longer in your computer, you can download a free utility which will perform as well as the Sonic program. I recommend you to go to www.download.cnet.com and search for Ashampoo Burning Studio Free. Download and install it. I use all the times when I have to reinstall an Operative System from scratch. Good luck.

I purchased a Dell Computer back in 2004 which came with Sonic Digital Media Plus v7. My PC has Windows XP Operating System. A few days ago I decided to install Version 6.0 of Roxios Easy CD/DVD Burning...

Try uninstalling Roxio and the Sonic drives and run Fixit. Then reboot and install Roxio first then the Sonic driver.
If this doesn't work uninstall again as previously, install Roxio and check the CD/DVD if necessary run Fixit then install Sonic driver.

Sounds like you have to Re-Install the software, or repair if possible

Downloading music tracks to a blank CD using Sony Sonic Stage software

go into the settings for sonicstage and select your dvd drive. that should be it. but you may have to do other things(i have a sony player too, but i have found sonicstage to be a waste of space and time. it is rather a pain. try looking through the manual and seeing if you have any options for the location of the cs drive. if not, then get a usb cd burner and connect it to the laptop. that should work properly.

CD/DVD Combo Drive Just Not Burning DVD

I had problems with tsstcorp in my drive. The software you are using won't work. You need to try sonic or roxio. I had the same problem. Do you have a dell? if so download the updates from the support website. Try a different software because a reinstall of xp should get rid of bugs in system. It sounds like a software issue though.
