You're Acer probably has Rescue and Recovery™ installed. Rescue and Recovery is a suite of self-recovery tools to help you
diagnose, get help, and recover your system.
set the Bloodhound heuristics in Norton AntiVirus to it's highest
setting you probably ran a virus scan and saw a Norton AntiVirus alert that states that it's detected a potential threat, Bloodhound.MBR. But this is probably not a virus but the recovery software on your laptop.
If you have IBM Rescue and Recovery and Norton AntiVirus Bloodhound
heuristics are configured to the highest setting, Norton AntiVirus may
alert you with a Bloodhound.MBR detection when you run a virus scan. To
avoid this, configure your Bloodhound heuristics to the default setting.
To reset Bloodhound to the default setting
- Start Norton AntiVirus.
If Norton AntiVirus was installed as part of Norton Internet Security or
Norton SystemWorks, then start one of those programs.
- Click Options.
If you see a submenu, then click Norton AntiVirus.
- Click Auto-Protect.
- Click Bloodhound.
- Click Default level of protection (recommended).
- Click OK
- Repeat steps 3-6 for Manual Scan.
In step 3, substitute Manual Scan for Auto-Protect.
- Exit Norton AntiVirus.
