Update the driver as follows:
Right-click [My Computer]
Select [Manage]
Select [Device Manager]
On the right window, click on the + Mice and other pointing devices
If any item has a RED X (not likely) the right-click on it an "enable" it.
If any have a YELLOW ! (likely) then right-click and select "update driver".
If neither label is present, then update the driver for the ntouchpad.
re-boot.

Here is the driver....download and install, the new driver will reset and enable the device to full function. When the link comes up, go to page 2 and download the touchpad driver. Follow instructions after download and device will self install.

Touchpad won't work

What's wrong with the touchpad? Rather than fix it if it is broken just replace it. In fact you can replace the whole palmrest which includes the touchpad that does not cost a lot.

Maybe you turned the touch pad off.
Click Start/Control Panel and look for the Mouse and open it to check the mouse properties. Make sure you don't have the touchpad disabled.

Some models will allow you to toggle the touchpad on or off by clicking on the button that is located at the top of the touch pad in the middle.

The correct key to hit will have the icon of a finger pointing at a square that represents the touchpad.

Maybe you just need to reinstall the touchpad drivers.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Acer Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download and install the Touchpad drivers.

The left key on my dell touchpad is not working

Hello,

that part of the touch pad is not working anymore, its faulty and you need to replace the whole touch pad.

I don't know why this is mostly common with Dell. My friend has a Dell inspirion 1501 and the touch pad has exactly the same problem as yours.

I would advice you get a USB mouse to keep you going pending the time you get the touch pad fixed.

I wish you the best of luck.
