Just open the menu and go to tv settings then adjust it to interlace mode.or use your component input if your tv has an ability to receive a YPBPR input much clear than an ordinary video.

With some dvds picture is split screen showing the picture on both halves of tv screen, how do I make this a single picture on whole screen?

HI,
Check on thing Go to the SETUP Menu and check is there is any System settings (colour system) on both DVD and TV . Try all the settings available in the colour system setting. As you didn't mentioned anything about Brand and model number of the player or tv. Its not possible to give you the exact solution.

Panasonic SC-PT460 - Little black box covers half of screen

Can you describe the 'box'? Is it the top half, bottom half, a little of either? What kind of TV do you have?

I suspect you might be noticing the aspect ratio of the various source programs being presented differently on a wide screen than you are used to. DVD programs come in a variety of aspect ratios. Normal TV is 4x3, that is, 4 units wide versus 3 units tall. Wide screens are more like 16x9, so a 4x3 image presented properly on a wide sceen would have black vertical bars on both sides. That is normal.

Some people are offended by the black bars and TV's are unfortunately designed to allow gross modification of the image to fill the space. That is akin to taking a photo of yourself and stretching it to fit an improper frame. That probably wouldn't be very flattering to you and certainly wouldn't be accurate. Which is more important - the picture or the frame?

Home theater system, DVD picture freezes

can be a dirty laser eye that can be cleaned with a dvd lens cleaner kit , you can pick them up at any radio shack or electronics store or even wal-mart just go to their electronics dept , most people today own home theater systems and dvd players, and even electronics need to be cleaned from time to time ,so it,s a cheap way of getting the best picture out of your dvd player and it is simple to use ,it looks like a dvd and comes with instructions ,some come with an alcohol fluis that gets put on a little furry brush on the disc ,this brush gets a few drops of alcohol and you put the cleaner disc in the tray and press play , thats all their is to it , thank you for your question if i was able to help you please leave me a nice rating , sincerely glenn mayer

I'm not getting any color pictures in my home theater system

Well, assuming were talking about a dvd player with dvd's,you dont specify what type of cables you are using to conect it to your tv, it appears that it has something to do with Progressive Scan been turned on. Progressive Scan is a feature built in your dvd player, wich by using it, it would give you a better picture//resolution on your tv, you need to use Component or HDMI cables to hook up the dvd to your tv if you want this settings, but if you are using composite RCA cables (Red,White & Yellow) and the Progressive funtion is turned on by accident, it may give you a split screen, black & white, or no picture problems. Also if you are using Component (Blue, Green & Red) cables, if one of them is unplug, the picture can be out of colors, or no picture. Check this things, if not, write back with more details about your set up.

Thanks...
