Dell 3100cn lost its network connectivity. It is no longer visible on the network, from my Dell Inspirion or my wife's iMac. Connecting to it with a USB from my Inspiron, it works just fine

SOURCE: Dell 3000cn Network Connection not working

First of, the ethernet must be 'on'. If dhcp available, set it to auto (or dhcp.. anyways..) and let it reboot, just in case :)
if not, try setting the IP-setting yourself. They should be somewhat similar to the settings on your local computer(s).

To add the printer to your computer, select 'Local' printer and specify 'tcp/ip' as which port its connected to. In the new window the ip to the printer should be entered. :) (at least for XP this is..)

Hope this gave you the correct solution..

Make sure you are connecting to your own internet connection through your wireless router and not on your neighbor's.....limited connectivity means you are out of reach or signal is blocked....

When my wife boots up her Dell Inspirion 1525 about every third time, she gets a black screen reading "No bootable devices found".

it seems your harddisk connection is not tight enough, you'll have to open your notebook up to check it.

What do I need to connect the Dell 3100cn printer to a toally wireless network?

To be able to set up wireless printer configuration, there are three basic items that you need to have. They are a high-speed broadband Internet connection (with modem), a high speed wireless router and wireless network adaptors. These three items will be used in setting up the wireless printer. Assuming that there is already an existing network in the home or office space, then all that is needed to do to make the printer available in the network through the operating system's networking wizard. If not, then the network must first be established, only then the printer will be made available through that network.

Print missing on right side of page

Drum, fuser and power supply can contribute to this issue. check if you have the printer connected to a surge protector or a UPS. Laser printers are picky about surge protectors especially if they are not designed to handle the voltage.

try connecting directly to the wall the issue should get progressively better.

if you can rub the images off the paper then it's the fuser.

I would like to be able to connect my lap top to my Dell 3000cn.

I lost my installation cd as well and I just figured out the solution to this problem. If you're trying to install the printer when it's attached to the network, this is how I did it. When you download the printer drivers from the Dell website, there isn't a setup.exe or similar file that will guide you through the installation setup. You still need this download, but what I did was go to the printer/faxes folder and clicked on "Add a printer". Select "Local printer attached to this computer and de-select "automatically detect and install...". On the next screen, select "create a new port" and select "standard TCP/IP port" from the drop down menu. At that point, another window will open for a wizard to add a tcp/ip port. Make sure you know the network address your printer is at and type it in. The next screen will probably say that it cannot find the device. Just select "custom" and finish configuring the port. Depending on your OS, there might not be any Dell printers. Click on Windows Update and it should update the manufacturer list. It will appear to freeze, but it's just updating the list. Click on Dell Inc. Select 3010cn. (I tried the 3100cn PCL6 and PS, but neither worked.) Make sure not to print a test page since this is not the driver for the printer and will print a million pages of junk. Click finish. Next, right click the printer you just added and select properties. Click on Advanced and click new driver. Click on "have disk", then browse. Look for the downloaded driver folder and open the PCL folder in the win_x32 folder. Select the dlxbrzi.inf file, then click on finish. Now you should be able to use the printer on your network. I don't know if there is a better way, but this is how I did it. I hope this helps.
