You must be sure that disc are clean and free from fingerprints..this tends to affect background..! Also if you are not online.. you must plug into ethernet/broadband to "UPDATE" ps3 software at least once a week..! and any new games you buy also require Online updates..!
Turn your PS3 completely off by pressing the power button and then turning off the power switch in the back. Your PS3 should show no lights. Wait about an hour to let the system completely cool down, then turn the power switch on the back on again. Now press the power button and hold it until the system beeps. This will reset a few settings and make sure the system is OK. Hook your PS3 up using the RCA Red White and Yellow cable and turn it on again, and you should be able to be back up and running.
Try doing a master reset of your system.
1.) Turn off the hard switch on the back of your system and wait 30 seconds.
2.) Turn the hard switch back on so that the PS3 displays the red "stand by" light on the front LED.
3.) Hold your finger on the soft "on switch" (above the red LED) for about 10 seconds until the PS3 emits a beep.
Good Luck!
