Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles. If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive. It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.
if you go to ebay there aare usually cartridges cheap enough
in Uk there is wilkinson that sell cheap cartridges and filling ink sets
Aso to be found in tesco
the computer shops have also chep alternatives ( non original cartridges )
Please go to the Lexmark website, www.lexmark.com >Technical Support.

In this case what i would request u to do is.......
Take out both the catridges from the Printer.........
Take 2 Paper Towels one should be wet with Luke warm water and the other one should be dry...........
Take the Colour catridge first turn it upside down and u will see a small copper plate on the catridge from where the ink comes out.......
Place the wet paper towel using ur thumb on the Copper plate and press it a lit bit for 10 Seconds......
Now remove it and see whether u see any ink on the paper towel..........
U should see some ink on it now place the dry paper towel on the ink catridge in the same way........
Now do the same procedure again..........
Do the same procedure twice on the Black Catridge.................
Now take the dry paper towel and turn the direction of the cartridge so that u can see a Copper plate on it with small boxes just clean that copper plate with the Dry Paper Towel..........
Know insert both the catridges inside the Printer the Colour Catridge should go in the right side and the black on the left........
Good Luck

Earlier this morning, I just pulled the cartridges to check the Lexmark print (X6570) cartridge numbers (41&42).When I typed these numbers in on inksell.com to retrieve the price and other information for these cartridges, they did not have any refill kits or anything of that nature for these specific cartridges.
To answer your question about why the printer is not detecting that your cartridge is full is probably because the cartridge has a chip in it that essentially disables it once the original manufacturer ink is empty. tHEY [Lexmark & Dell] do not want outside competition In other words, the printer manufacturers make the bulk of the money on selling new cartridges (for a fortune) .To make matters worse, they always seem to behalf empty even though they are ‘brand-new’ ink cartridgesThe bottom line is that the faster you can go through a printer cartridge, they can sell many more of the cartridges that they are charging us a fortune for.
Needless to say, I am just going to go and get me another HP printer. My advice would be to check to see if ink-refill kits (see sites like inksell.com) are available for any future printers that u purchase.
