Hello, The screen of a calculator is pretty fragile. If you cannot remove the smudge by gently cleaning with a lightly damped, soft cloth do not try any solvent. I just tried isopropyl alcohol @ 50% per volume on my TI83Plus and it did not hurt the screen.
You can play with the contrast (increase or decrease). To change contrast you perform the following manipulations. 1. Turn calculator ON 2. Press [2nd] key, then release it. 3. Press Up arrow, then release it 4. Repeat steps 2, and 3, until contrast is satisfactory.
To decrease contrast do as above, pressing Down arrow in step 3.

The model indicated here Sony Grand WEGA KDF-50WE655 is a LCD rear projection and rarely if ever requires cleaning.
If black spots or such are gradually appearing the issue on this model is the optical light engine.
Set uses a LCD engine which the lamp shines directly into and heat from that very hot lamp can damage sensitive baffles inside the engine.
I would suggest also you contact Sony as they have on several models extended the warranty for this kind of issue---Engine is very expensive part and several of these Sony sets were involved in a class action lawsuit--hence they are dealing with them.
Do not take no for an answer if you want them to help you---the hinge that is sqeeks gets oiled...........
Hi! Does the smudge changes / mooves as you zoom the lens? If so, the smudge is most likely on the focus lens, if not, there's something on the CCD. In both cases the lens will have to be taken apart and cleaned by a professional. I suggest you contact a local repair shop and see how much they ask for it.
Sounds like you need a new black drum. If the smudge looks the same each time, you may have something on the drum that can be cleaned off, such as adhesive from a label. If that's the case, you can sometimes get away with cleaning the drum with a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol if necessary. Alcohol will leave a void spot for few copies, but will eventually go away unless the drum is really old, then it may not.
Most possibly those are dead pixels. Those cannot be fixed in most cases. some software and some technic may help but that is not a confirm solution. please take it to the service center or talk them if still the warranty is valid and it covers the facts of dead pixels till date.
It sound like you have some dust particles or a smudge spot on the CCD screen (actually on the low-pass filter in front of image chip). To leave an image on CCD, the dusts must be closer to the image plane to be registered so it should be somewhere closer to the screen or right on it. Take a look at the screen with "CCD Clean" mode and blow out any dust. If the smudge is on the screen, I recomend trained tech should clean it. good luck. dark spot could be a faulty led. if you put a program on that is in white screen you should see all the leds light up the screen. dark spot will be were the led is not working. if on white screen and they all lite up but still dark around the area, it could be the lcd screen. and could be dying pixels. and try this video https://youtu.be/wlA2rcrAOCs
