Upgrade to the latest firmware. Go to Linksys and find the firmware for the model of your router. Download it and save it. Log into the router and go to administration and find the "upgrade firmware" wizard. This should fix the problem.

I need to find my wep key for my wireless router. It is a Linsky and I tried ''admin'' but that doesn't work. I need it for my daughter to use her dgamer on her Nintendo DS.

You can reset the wireless router simply by pressing the little button in the back of the router for 15 seconds (using a pen or needle). This will reset the entire router back to default where the "admin" username and blank password will work. To reinstall, just go to Linksys website and download the software for your brand. It will walk you thru easy setup and will take you approximately 5 minutes to reinstall.

SMC Barricade wireless router needs to be reset constantly

Maybe it is an electricity problem, or it's nearing the end of it's life. I bought 2 routers till now.each one worked fine for 2 years and then never worked. You should buy a new one or check if there's something with the electricity . Maybe a higher voltage

Login on to linsky

Under this condition you should connect the linksys router physically by LAN cable and that try to get connected with and reconfigure it properly as per your requirement. If still unable to solve the problem than kindly reset the unit to factory default by pressing the reset button.and that try to get connected with and reconfigure it properly as per your requirement.

Cant connect 2 laptops through linsky wrt54g is this possible

are you connecting the laptop hard wired or wirelessly?

for wired connection, just plug the ethernet cable from the router to the laptop and it should work fine.

for the wireless connection, check on the wireless network connection. for xp, click on start> control panel> network connections> right click wireless network connection> then click on view available wireless network> then select your network.. for secure wireless connection, type the security key then click connect. :-)

Wireless connection

You need to edit you're router's wireless settings, maybe there is a conflicting default network w/in you're range. Make sure you change the SSID (wireless name) to a unique name, the channel I advise you to set it to CH11, and enable wireless security as well, you can go for WPA-Personal it will be supported by XP and it's a good encryption method. And try removing all the network's listed on the "preferred networks list" on windows to make sure there won't be any conflicting wireless profile.

Linsky password

If you're after the default userR/password to log in to the admin-intaserface on the router it's usually ussername=root and password=admin

If it's the wep-key it's asking for there are software that can fetch this from your computer, but it's probably just as quick and easy to change the wep-key in the router and set up your writeless computers with that key.

Router Reboots and Freezes

I have found a router freezes up due to memory leaks. After a while it just uses up all its available memory and can't make a new connection. Calling the manufacture and raving until they send you the firmware fix for the memory leak is the best option. In the meantime, just pull the power plug on the thing and when it comes back up it will be fine (until it uses up all its memory).
