COMPUTER POWERS DOWN AFTER 3-4 MINUTES

System shuts down after a few minutes. Green light on power supply stays on. I have disconected power supply lines and reinstalled. No error message on start-up. Suspect power supply but want to rule out any other components.

First I checked the fans as suggested by SEAJADE, all working. Next I blew out the dust with compressed air per LEMMOR.

System has been operating for 8 hours. I would not have thought that dust would have caused processor to overheat.

Thanks!! I could have spent $50. for a PSU that I didn't need.

I have the same problem. It was working fine then I unplugged everything and blew it out with a Duster like I always do. Never have had a problem before, then when I went and plugged everything back in and turned it on it started powering up then it shut off. And it keeps shutting off now and will not stay on. It has powered all the way up to my desk top then shut down. That is as far as it will go. Please help!!!!

In addition to that, check also the heatsink on the processor if it needs dusting, it may be filled with dust that it doesn't allow air to pass through to cool off the processor.

Please keep us posted.

Hi, the problem could be that your CPU fan may possibly have died as this will cause your CPU to overheat and the system will shut down automatically to protect itself.

On the other hand it could be the power supply unit. Open the box and turn it on and watch your various fans, some PC's have 2 or 3. if it is workin nice and fast then more likely the PSU. Before you open the box make sure you will not be voiding any warrantys that you may have from when you bought it.

Let us know how you go.

System runs from about 3 to 15 secs then shuts down. That doesn't give me enough time to do anything in the BIOS setup when pressing F2. Then the system refuses to start (by pressing the power button)...

Just to make sure thatnothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, videocard, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables toCD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged. The computer should stay on even without an operating system or hard drive installed.

Lots of details: LP120 stays on for a minute, then powers off

either the colorwheel motor is not getting up to speed to sync with the dmd chip, the wheel sensor is going, or the power supply needs replacing. you can try to replace them yourself or send it to an infocus authorized service center. try www.avsolutionsny.com . they're pretty good.

Hp flat panel monitor comes on shows logon and then blank screen

Ok, another words, monitor powers up for few seconds and shuts down by itself. If green LED on the front panel turns off as well or stays on?
If stays on, then inverter turns into protection mode because of old backlight lamps.
If it turns off in same time with an image on the screen, then there are some bad electrolytic capacitors in the power supply.

Multisync LCD 1700V turns on then screen goes blank and shuts off

Does the power light stay on? If so, you have an inverter problem. If the power light goes off, you have a power supply problem.

When i try to reset the box the white light blinks for about 2 to 3 minutes the an orange light comes on and stays on . it won't reset

try holding the power button in for 4 seconds this forces the powers supply to shut down then press power on

Blinking green power light & shut down

There are (4) 1000uf @35V capacitors all together on the DM board that need to be replaced some models have 1000uf @ 16V but they are all right beside each other and all rated at 1000ufs the voltages will be stamped on the capacitor along with the uf ratings.
