SOURCE: copying vhs to dvd using samsung vr357 ??

do a search for the dp5000 unit on line its cost about $119.00 $12.00 shipping i have one and it works flawles. it will remove the copy guard but remember this should not be abused if you know what i mean it works both on vhs and dvd you can copy any thing. you will need another cheap player to do this out from the player into the DP 5000 into the recorder I have been coping all my vhs to dvd and the nice think is you can watch any channel on tv while runing in the background this is only available when going from vhs to dvd when dvd to dvd you have to watch it or put it on timer you cannot watch another channel. i bought a samsung dvd vhs player from sams club for 79.00 the dp 5000 for $119 and i say the investment was worth it . i have a dvd player in my car and to take originals with me would be a disaster as some time i get sloppy with them

SOURCE: Error code E 4 54040990

You need to go into the set up menu and select recording options. On the recording options menu, scroll down to dubbing options. On the dubbing options menu select either VCR to DVD or DVD to VCR.
Recording and Dubbing are not the exactly the same thing. You use the record buttons to record TV directly to VCR/DVD you use the dubbing buttons and set up to record DVD to VCR or VCR to DVD.
Hope this helps.

I have a grundig gr1000(b) vhs/DVD combo. Is it possible to record from video cassette onto DVD? It doesn't seem to be mentioned in the instruction manual. Thanks for your help.

Yes! You can select to copy from VHS to DVD or DVD to VHS, set the VHS tape ready to play and press pause, then put a blank recordable DVD disk in and then select copy, the options for VHS to DVD or DVD to VHS can be selected and then it will copy, when the tape gets to the end it will turn off itself, if you want to stop earlier you will have to stop it! Hope this helps.

I would like simple steps to transfer VHS to DVD on my Toshiba DVR620KY. I want to copy with the unit alone. Would appreciate your help. Thanks.

Hi ,

Please follow the instructions below to record from VHS to DVD. You may not be able to record from some pre-recorded VHS cassettes due to copyight protection embedded into the recording. You should stick some tape over the copy-protection tab on cassettes prior to recording if the tab has been removed. On some cassettes, there may be a slide switch which needs to be moved to the record/rec position. All pre-recorded cassettes will have the copy-protection tab removed.

1. Switch on the TV and DVD/VCR and select the correct input on the TV for the player.
2. Set the player for the recording direction, i.e. VCR to DVD . . .

- Press the SETUP key on the Toshiba remote to open the on-screen menu
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight GENERAL SETTING then press ENTER
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight RECORDING then press ENTER
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight DUBBING MODE then press ENTER
- Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight VCR > DVD then press ENTER
- Press the SETUP key again to close the on-screen menu

3. Press VCR to select VCR mode.
4. Insert the cassette you wish to record and fast-forward or rewind it to the position where you want to start recording from. Allow at least 5 seconds extra if not starting the recording from the beginning of a cassette.
5. Press PLAY then press PAUSE immediately.
6. Press DVD to select DVD mode
7. Insert a blank DVD
8. Press the REC MODE button to select the recording mode (XP / SP / LP, etc)
9. Press the DUBBING key to start the recording.

You can watch the VCR while it's recording. When you reach the point where you want the recording to end, press the STOP key. You do not need to repeat step 2 every time you record. The player will stay in VCR > DVD recording mode unless you change it.

Hopefully, you will now be able to record from VCR to DVD. If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Regards,
BElectric

I would like to know if it is possible to copy two vhs movies onto one dvd disk.

Yes, this should be possible, as long as the VHS movies are not copyright protected. Just make sure that the recording mode on the dvd is set to allow enough time for both movies. Just remember: the more you record onto a single disc, the quality of the dubbing (recording of VHS to DVD) is decreased.

When copying a vhs tape to dvd, and there is only a short amount of video on the vhs tape, how do I just burn that and not the whole 2 hour tape? When I stop the copying it does not finalize and do not...

You must be able to watch what is being reocorded.
After the part you want to record is finished stop it.
Also the recording can be set for a set amount of time.

Magnavox H2160MW9 VHS tape "recording not allowed" to hard drive

RIAA has prodded the electronics manufacturers into putting copy protection into their recorders. You are allowed one copy, I believe, and you will be able to make it to a DVD-R in VR mode. VR mode protects (how? dunno) the recording from being copied a second time. DVD-RAM and DVD-R (maybe -RW) in VR mode should allow you to make your copy.
