SOURCE: miele washing machine

All Miele washing machines and dishwashers need to fill in a required time. Flashing inlet (Tap icon) indicates that the machine can not fill in time. There are filters in the end of the hoses which connect to your water supply from the machine and filters in the inlet valves which you can get at by removing the hose from where it fixes onto the machine it'self. You will need some long nose pliers to grab the little tab on the small filter to get it out. Clean all filters and hoses. Still same problem then check the pressure of the water coming into the machine. There should be a good pressure coming out of the hose and will be difficult to stop the flow of water with your finger.

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

Your filter of the water inlet valve is accessible outside the machine; it is at the water entry point. Close your faucet & check this out; this gets clogged often.

Hope i am helpful...... Click on 'thanks for trying' if not helped, your prob will be back for someone else to solve.

The flood protection device has activated. This is caused by a leak in the machine. It can also be caused if you are not careful when checking the drain pump, water may have gone back into appliance and activated flood protection device. If this is the case Tip machine forward, water in base of appliance will run out, and appliance will work.

Miele W5748 Honeycomb washing machine water inlet fault alert, after running for 5-10 minutes. Has continuous humming sound. Checked external plumbing all is fine.

Added Model Number to this post and deleted duplicate post. Refresh the page to see your post published.

It sounds as though the water inlet valve has failed. The humming is the solenoid trying to open.

Hi, Jane.
Is the tap on? (Sorry, I had to ask)
Make sure the filters on the inlet valve(s) aren't blocked.
If all is well with the inlet valves you should hear a faint humming. This is normal.
If it's a new machine it would still be under warranty, so you should get a Miele serviceman to check out the problem.
Good Luck

Does the light "Check Inlet" stay on? If it does, it is likely the water inlet valve solenoids that are inoperative. How old is the washing machine?

Miele washing machine w 487 check drain and check inlet

Clean out the pump trap. If you are on well water or just have very hard water, your inlet valve may be becoming constricted as well, remove the fill hoses from the back of the machine and shine a bright light into the valve to see if the screens are getting clogged with debris: In this case, follow the instructions the computer is giving you.

Hi Yugin. That indicates your machines water inlet valve is faulty.(Means it's taking less water then normal)Please check this steps & do it fast before water inlet is finishes:1-Turn your machine on & run empty with pre-wash cycle first.2-Please ajar the detergent drawer & check runing water on compartment one 3-Please press pre-wash button & compare the running water volume on compartment two.If the running water volume 1 is less then 2 or vs.water valve needs to be replace. That's causing problem.I hope that helps.Thanks.

hi,

More than likely the problem is actually the inlet valve which only partly allows water to flow into the unit. you would need to remove the lid and replace the inlet valve which is on the left hand back corner of the unit. Valves are available from Miele
