i have replaced all electrical including switch and have disconnected wires to coil so as not short out...still no spark...set air gap to .10 with business card...no spark have tried 3 new coils and flywheel...no spark???

  • richie46 Mar 30, 2017

'Tis an enigma!!!!!U have tried everything and still nada - no wonder you are going bananas! Only thing I can think of is the wiring going to the on/off switch. If one of those legs has insulation that has worn off and the ***** wire is grounding out, that would kill the spark. There is nada left to check since you have replaced the coil with 3 others (hopefully one was good), gapped unit properly. Sounds crazy but did you check out the plug and try a known working one? Does the chainsaw have a dead man switch that has to be on the "on" position along with the trigger for unit to operate.

What is the replacement chain and bar for a homelite textron Little Red UT-10748

Ok, what you need to do is go on Google type in that model number UT etc etc and parts right after it. You will see a bunch of sites that have parts drawings, click on one of them, find your part numbers THEN do the same thing again, bqck to google, type in part number then the description, again you will see sites that will either offer the OM part or an aftermarket.

Homelite xl chainsaw won't start. I took out spark plug, put in some fuel and if fired right up. But won't run.

You need to clean out the carb. possibly replace the Needle Valve and check the Diaphram for stiffness. Also check the fuel line for cracks and rott.

My homelite chainsaw model# ut10520 has aoil leak from the flexible line at the base of the oil tank.

I input your model number and found 3 possible matches, "42cc/46cc Chain Saw UT-10520; SUPER 2 Chain Saw UT-10520 or SUPER 2 Chain Saw UT-10520-A".
I opened the first "Ref # 3" on "Figure A" I suspect is what you say is leaking. It is very inexpensive and available. I would order one and inspect it once recieved to determine an installation method. It does not appear overly difficult without the part in hand. Good Luck.

The numbers Homelite & Ryobi use do not match the numbers everyone posts. A careful inspection of your saw should find something that matches.

No spark superxl ut-10045-c

The following are givens:
1. You replaced the spark plug with a known good one and the malfunction persisted.
2. You did something similar to the following in an attempt to isolate defective parts and you concluded the ignition is not producing spark.
Ignition Coil Test by SmallEng.com

You may need to use a jumper wire between the threaded part of the plug and the cooling fins. You do not have to bend up the electrode.

I found your saw "SXLO Chain Saw UT-10045-C" by following the instructions here:

Both the solid state ignition and condenser (most likely failures, but no promises) are NLA at the authorized site, part numbers are still valid. An Internet search for "Homelite YourPartNumber" displays many sources other than eBay.
