I have same problem with my LG flat panel lcd hd ready tv. I also noticed that when it is warm i dont have this problem but only on occasions when in my house is below 19 C, and it takes longer period to turn on if it is lower room temeprature.

The main power transistor in the power supply appears to have failed. It has also blown the fuse. Not a job for the DIY'er unless you have serious electronics experience.
You can do it two ways, one, if you desktop has just VGA (blue,15 pin) connector, the other way, if your desktop has DVI out, then you will need DVI to HDMI cable.
