Carina, Check page 110 of the online user guide. The message you are seeing is pointing to a cartridge mismatch. If you recently replaced the cartridges for your printer, this may be your issue. Follow the steps on that page and this should solve your issue. Online User Guide: http://www.lexmark.com/publications/pdfs/2007/ms310d_ms310dn/UG/EPS/ms310d_ms310dn_UG_en.pdf
First, print a test page from the printer's menu and see if the black lines and text look okay on that. If there is no or poor black printing, you need to replace the black cartridges or try cleaning the cartridge's nozzle with rubbing alcohol. If that looks fine you need to check the printer's settings in its properties on the system lift of printers.
Unfortunately, as with the Z1420, fast print speeds come at the cost of print quality with the Z1300. Black text prints, though nicely dark, were beset by obvious jaggedness. The color graphics print had a slightly faded look to it and color blocks showed graininess and faint horizontal striations. Barcode-style patterns were muddled, too. For our tests, we printed color 4x6 photos with the standard black and tricolor cartridges, as Lexmark did not include photo ink tanks with the test unit. The colors were dull, details were hazy, and again, the entire print was marred by graininess and faint horizontal lines. That said, nobody buys a $25 printer to print photos for framing or to create displays for a classroom science project. A $25 printer is a convenience item for occasional reference prints, and as such, the Z1300 does its job.
hi ..
log on to lexmark website..www.lexmark.com ...downloaded lexmark tool bar to ur desk top ...once download is complete .install tool bar...then open web page..don not print from file..instead use the printer icon on the top right corner to print...this should fix it
quiet easy you have to change you print selection to all or everyday printing that way it will print both color and black all together instead of not this and that
