Cannot get temperature over 300 degrees anymore

As of today, my genesis Silver b (2 years old) is unable to raise the temperature higher than 300 degrees (low temp) with the tank valve fully open and the burners all turned high.

Any ideas? Should I be checking for clogs... or could it be the regulator?

It was the regulator bypass.

My weber genesis silver-b (sku # 218446) is 11 years old and has this "peeling problem". Is anyone "sure" that it isn't "paint/enamel" that is peeling on a model that was...

I'ts the same today as it was back then. They still use porcelain enamel. Not paint. A couple of things that could ease your mind. Paint has like a kerosene smell to it. Also, drop a chunk in water for a few days, paint will not dissolve in water.

The grill only reaches 200 degrees

PROBLEM
Barbecue temperature only
reaches 250° to 300° in the HIGH
position.

CHECK
The excess flow safety device,
which is part of the barbecue to
cylinder connection, may have
activated.

CURE
To reset the excess flow safety
device turn all burner control knobs
and the cylinder valve OFF.
Disconnect the regulator from the
cylinder. Turn burner control knobs to
HIGH. Wait at least 1 minute. Turn
burner control knobs OFF. Reconnect
the regulator to the cylinder. Turn
cylinder valve on slowly. Refer to
“Lighting Instructions”.

Gas flow

Your regulater connected on tank has a shut down safety inside of it. disconnect tank hookup, then reconnect, always open tank valve slowely when you open to fast regulator thinks there is a leak and starts shutting down valve to slow leak. Opening slowely will solve your problem.

Low burners, low heat

If you turn on the gas too fast with the newer tan systems, it can make the system think it has a leak and slows the gas flow down. Use proper start up procedures. Call Weber to walk you through them.
