If your power sign is flashing red/yellow then you have the ylod just like the xbox has the rrod ps3 has the ylod and you need to send it into either sony get a 3rd party (craigslist ps3 fix) to fix it or fix it your self (google how to fix ylod)

I have the same problem. When it is turned on it shuts down within 30 seconds and I need to disconnect the power cable again before it can be turned on (and again shuts down after some 30 sec.)

You more than likely have a bad power supply, which you can find one on ebay for $20-$40. I would recommend buying one and then having a repair tech install it for you unless you are savvy enough to install it yourself. The only thing i can think of is click the switch to turn off the PS3 completely leave it off for about 30 second turn the switch back on and try again. If the doesn't work you may have a problem with your power supply and might need to get your PS3 serviced

That's a overheating problem that you guys have.

it seems from your description that the PS3 is actually booting up. there could be 2 problems.

Problem one is that you have faulty/damaged power adaptor running into the playstation, causing the circuitry to short out which will shut the console down, and the second problem could lie inside the system itself, there could be an intermittent hardware problem within your console.

I would suggest calling Sony Customer support and explaining the problem, they will be able to guide you step by step through the error checking and rectification of the problem !
