My sons ps3 won't play any game s it will play vertebrae movies but they sKip won't play any games and keeps turning it's self off what could be wrong and can I fix it

What are you doing when it shuts down, are you playing games/movies. Downloading anything, on the internet? Have you checked to see if all cables are securely attached?

Well i'm not sure iff this is a the solution.
(since i'm gonna try this my self when it arrives)

I bought:USB Gamepad Converter Dualschock PS2 Playstation 2 SonyFrom ebay, else i really woodnt know a way to solve this unless the developers or sony can come up with ...

Try this:

1. Back Up your PS3. You will need a compatible external hard disk drive for this step.
   
2. Enter Recovery Mode.
   
   
3. Choose "System Update".
   
   Try to load a game or movie. If it works, skip the rest of the steps listed below; otherwise, continue.
   
   
4. Re-enter Recovery mode, and choose "Restore Default Settings".
   
   Try to load a game or movie. If it works, skip the rest of the steps listed below; otherwise, continue.
   
   
5. Re-enter Recovery mode, and choose "Restore File System".
   
   Try to load a game or movie. If it works, skip the rest of the steps listed below; otherwise, continue.
   
   
6. Re-enter Recovery mode, and choose "Rebuild Database".
   
   Try to load a game or movie. If it works, skip the rest of the steps listed below; otherwise, continue.
   
   
7. Re-enter Recovery mode, and choose "Restore PS3 System". WARNING!: This option will delete everything on your PS3 hard disk drive!

8. Return the unit to Sony. If your PS3 is still under warranty the fix will be free; otherwise it will cost $150.

depending which ps3 you have.
If you have the dual laser model one of the lasers could be damaged or require cleaning.
so the bluray side would work fine, whilst the reg side for reading dvds and cds could be damaged.
it might be worth buying a cd lens cleaner with the brushes and fluid and running it a few times in the ps3 this could work but you might be looking at the laser being replaced.

try setting the console back to factory settings, i had the oposite problem, would play games but not movies. will it play blu-ray movies or regular? if it doesnt play blu-rays, your disc reader may have gone bad.

the audio skipping like that mean that the wires are shorting or frayed... you will have to replace your audio cords. Just as a note if this doesnt fix it theres a chance its inside the ps3 or just your audio reciever. Oh, before you go buying the audio cord try messing with the audio setting in the menu first, it might just be your audio sampling is set too low

what is wrong is when you got the blue ray set up it was probly set up diff.if it is not reading games or movies then you eye is scrached.the eye if u dont know is what reads everything

If you keep on getting this problem you will need to send it in to get it fixed, or you can actually readjust the laser from home.
