Just got new Tv, worked great with color connectors husband wanted HDMI cable plugged into cable box now message says no signal..what to do?

Sounds like a defective HDMI cable.

Get a component video cable (blue, green, red) and a separate RCA audio cable (white and red) if your cable box has a component video output and the TV has a component video input.

If your cable box doesn't have the component output, you will need a converter to go from the HDMI to component video. Something like this: http://www.hdtvsupply.com/hdmi-to-component.html . There are other converters available if your TV has some other inputs available.

A cable that has an HDMI M on one end and a VGA M on the other will not work. HDMI signals from the set top box are a digital signal. The VGA port on the TV is set to read an RGB analog signal. (Similarly a component to VGA cable would not work since the RGB and PbPrY are not compatible.)

Please post the Brand/Model of you cable box and that of your TV so I can provide you with an answer that is more accurate than a guess.
The guess is, since we are talking about HD I will assume that your cable box has an HDMI connector and you have also an HDTV with HDMI connector somewhere in the back. In that case you will need an HDMI cable and that will connect both Audio and Video signal. Then you just set your input source selector on your HDTV to HDMI (if multiple select the number of the one where you connected the cable box), and you should be getting picture and sound.
Now, if your HDTV has no HDMI input then it will be very likely that you will have to use a Component cable that is ONLY for the "video" signal and looks like 3 RCA connectors color coded as Red, Blue, and Green. You will need to get and additional cable to feed the "audio" signal from the cable box to the HDTV using a stereo cable with RCA connectors which are usually color coded as RED and WHITE.
Note: This setup although better than nothing, is somewhat defying the purpose of having HD. The signal in Component connections are analog (although of better quality than Composite i.e. the old single video cable color coded as Yellow). The analog signal is limited by design and will get you only so far in your HD experience. The HD signal is digital and will yield the highest quality in both audio and video.
Assuming you are paying extra for channels that are HD then it would be worth it to do some more research or ask for help to one of your savviest friends so you can get the best gear and results with the least expense ;)
In all cases you should be able to see the programs and hear in stereo, your experience will vary as: - Your video signal may be a 480p instead of getting a higher 720p or 1080i. - your audio signal although some movies are available in 5.1 surround, not having a surround system will just give you the stereo sound from the TV.

At the rear or side of the PC there should be either or both of a 15 Pin DIN Plug, HDMI socket. or a Yellow RCA or 4 -7 pin DIN. Now IF these are present then YES you can connect to a TV. Now some TV's have a connector a DB15 MALE, so that the cable from the PC to the TV, is DB15. this plugs in directly, with appropriate DB15 cable. This, however, will ONLY take the VIDEO to the TV, Audio is delivered via the "Audio Out" Jack on PC, and Plugged into the AV Sockets on the TV, with a dual cored coaxial cable, they are Red & White. Some PC's also have a Yellow RCA Connector, OR a 4 -7 Pin DIN Socket, that requires a Special Adapter Cable (That generally came with the unit, and are colored and marked as to output) to use, for Video/Audio Out to TV. This signal is Composite or SVHS Video & Stereo Out. This connects up TO the TV's Composite/SVHS input Jacks and the Red & White Audio IN, RCA Jacks, &/or DIN SVHS socket. Also we have "Component Video" marked "Y" "Pb" & "Pr" these simply go color to color at BOTH ends, this is where the Red, Green, & Blues, colored Ends, of the Wires, goes, remembering that this is ALL only Video. With this method, you still must use the AV, red & White, Audio, Inputs to get the "Sound" into the unit
First you need to know if your PC can output to a TV. Then you need to get the adapter & cables that connect the PC to the TV. Then you need the correct TV drivers installed for your video card. When they are all installed, you need to "Enable" that Monitors, the TV's, Desktop. You need to set either a "Cloned" display or "Spanned, Extended Desktop". Go to "Display Settings" Now ensure the TV/Monitor connected has the correct input/output display settings. Adjust the screens resolution via the resoloution "Slider", it is best to start with, 800x600 32 bit color. or even lower. and once working OK, THEN increase to max resolution, your TV can handle, find out from manual. Once it is all connected up. It should all just work great. Now, from then on, &, to get it to work every-time, the process is. Turn everything OFF. Connect the leads between PC & TV, Turn the TV, ON. Then, startup the PC up. It should "Detect" that it has TWO "Monitors" ie: One Monitor & One TV/Monitor, & you should see your desktop appear after a bit. Now you have screen 1 & screens 2. Now, if you are using "Cloned" mode, then whatever is displayed on the Master monitor, will be displayed on the TV. If you used Spanned, mode, in this mode, however, you will have to."Drag" the Video window, over to the TV, and it is though, you have one "Big Desktop". Now IF using Nvidia or ATI then BOTH of those have thier OWN, Control Panel, this, all then can make it all a lot easier to do it. So I would suggest that this method be used. But if you get stuck, or just want to do it by hand, then the the "By Hand" method is the only way.There is a great program called MultiMon, this allows great control over dual displays, and is well worth installing. Connecting this up will be easy. What you do is get a yourself a set of the right, for your setup, cables. That uses EITHER one of the formats, of these described, below. You will need, either, a THREE way Cable, or three separate " Coaxial Cored" Cables with RCA PLUGS on them. Colored Yellow, (Video) Red, & White. (Audio) AV. OR If you haveSCART Connection Sockets, it's a big Black Socket at rear of unit(s), you get a SCART Cable.& It's all inside. Now some units, use a standard called Component Video, that uses, a Green, Red, & Blue Plugs. Also we have with the "Component Video" it is marked "Y" "Pb" & "Pr" these simply go color to color at BOTH ends, this is where the Red, Green, & Blues, colored Ends, of the Wires, goes, remembering that this is ALL only Video. With this method, you still must use the AV, red & White, Audio, Inputs to get the "Sound" into the unit, with the Component setup, you will also ,need, Two more Cables, for the AV Audio. these are, Red &White.(So with Component Video there are 5 Cables/Plugs in all). In any event ALL Cables go Color to Color, at each end, plugging into the corresponding Colored RCA Jacks, on either machine, or VCR or TV. Now if you have SCART, then it simply plugs in only one way. It is that simple. So connect up with the leads your set uses, and select the correct "Input" from TV/Remote, it is NOT on a "Channel" it will be on AV, AUX, and Press "Play" on VCR/DVD whatever.... should be all go.

It is up to you use the HDMI input so you can select it from your remote, notice one may be an output but the cable box hdmi device will plug into the box and the other end plugs into the hdmi cable connector. then select from your remote or your tv that hdmi connection to recieve signal, and set the remote to work with the TV and the Cable box, if you need more help post here and if this was helpful please rate.

Ther is no "cable" connector on this model tv. Check your direct tv control module "cable box" for a hdmi output. If you have that output, you will need ahdmi cable for HD broadcast. If you donot have a hdmi output on your direct tv box, contact direct tv for the right one. Do not use RCA connectors because the picture will be fuzzy do to in-ability for rca connectoe to send HD signal. You MUST have hdmi signal from cablle box to tv.

pull the plug on your tv and cable box for 1 minute and start fresh. glitches like this happen all the time with hdmi. if this does not cure, the error message you get needs to be posted.

For connections of audio, so that you can hear all tv audio through the
surround system, connect either an optical audio cable or red & white
analog audio cables from the tv to the home theater. If you are using
optical audio, there is a plug on back of tv labeled for digital audio
output and an input on the surround sound system. If you plan on using
analog red and white, use the PROG OUT red and white output jacks on the
back of the tv to the AUX input on the home theater.

For video connections, to get HD you will need to be using either HDMI or
Component cables. HDMI is the cable that will provided 1080p signal (the
best HD signal), but if the source does not output 1080p, then your tv
will not display 1080p. Most cable boxes output at 1080i or 720p when on
HD stations. This signal still provides great picture quality, but HDMI is
not needed to get these HD signals. You can use component cables for your
cable box and the DVD player output to the tv for video. HDMI might give
you a slightly better picture quality but the signal will be the same.

To make the connection, you will want to connect from the cable box to the
tv (component or hdmi). Also from the home theater system to the tv using
hdmi or the video cables from component (red, blue, & green cables).

No, when I bought my new plazma tv, and unhooked my old DVR box, I had to go to my cable provider and inform them. they sent a signal and WHAM I was back in Biz.

I had the same problem. It turned out the issue was that I had the VGA Y-cable connectors between the PC and the KWorld box reversed. They look like they should be interchangeable, but they are not. A closer look at the cable connectors shows that one is marked "PC", one is marked "Monitor", and the 3rd is marked "SCAN CNVTR". Once I got them plugged into the right places, I got the screen image on the TV.
