Just got a belkin g wireless can get internet through it on desk top but not the laptop the laptop says its connected to the belkin but not the internet

Need to know what you changed....

To reset the Belkin back to the default settings -
Press and hold the pinhole RESET button at the back of the router and then power for at least 15 secs. Then release the RESET button.
Connect a LAN cable from Belkin to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open a browser on your laptop/computer and enter the Belkin's configuration URL. http://192.168.2.1
The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default admin password.
You can now configure the wireless settings. Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings. Use the Ethernet cable to verify the router or modem is working and connects to the Internet. If so, then check your wireless adapter in the desk top through device manager - it should detect the Belkin. Also, verify you are entering the correct WEP keys to access the wireless connection to the router or modem - sometimes it gets typed in wrong.

You need to conenct a wireless router to the modem provided by your ISP.

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router is there any computer connected to the router ? If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer. Router set up page is the page where you can check all the wireless settings of the router.

Make sure the Belkin wireless is the only device directly connecting to your internet service provider's router/modem. Usually that port is labelled "WAN" or even "Internet". The Belkin should have extra ports/jacks for WIRED connections, right? You then connect the PC into the other remaining ports/jacks on the Belkin (if they're wired) or just use the wireless for the laptop if the laptop has wireless. After getting the wireless going, though, you should lock it down by using WPA encryption key if possible.

First make sure you have the correct drivers installed, go to the Belkin website to get the latest drivers for your device.

Next make sure that your router is set to broadcast, and that is in Wireless G mode. You can find that information at the router manufacturers website.

It's asking for the security word that you entered into the router when you set up wireless security. You will need to enter both the wireless SSID, and the security key to make the system work.

can you connect to the internet if you use a ethernet cord to connect directly to the router?
If so , check the password you provided to connect to the network.
