If it is, the issue is not this chip unless service mode has been entered and the programme erased or fiddled with, if it has the 24C08 will require re programming.

Since BPL uses Sanyo kit, service mode entry method to Sanyo should work with it. To get some details, http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Pull up older posts. Service mode entry method to many brand TVs including BPL models are given.
