SOURCE: Scanning dtv channels

go to menu setup and do the full system reset setup option... Then before you scan for channels make sure it is set to cable... This fixed the problem for me.

SOURCE: screen froze during lightning storm. no picture

What did you find as your problem? i had the same symptom on the same tv. Screen froze during lightning storm, now looks like display powers up but no picture or menu. I have let mine sit unplugged overnight without any change. Normally i would suspect Power supply board and it might be but I think the Tuner/CPU board is more likely given the frozen image.

SOURCE: How to reset tv. Have sound but black screen

LCD's use a colorful crystal see through display which only visible when light is shining through it. if you have sound and no picture it's always a faulty PSU. Very easy to change out actually.

After a lightening storm, my power surge strip got hit and damaged everything that was attached to it (i.e. the internet modem, blu-ray player, and Samsung TV). Our TV only has a blue screen. Help

Yep, power spikes kill. Power spikes kill all. Power spikes kill all forever. Replace all and get a new surge protector that costs at least $99. If you never need it it is called insurance. I am in FL the capitol of lightning. High priced surge protectors are cheeeeep when lightning is there.

Hi there! If you have a decoder and this was plugged in on the panel it may have damaged the input board. Alternatively have the decoder checked first or try another TV on the same decoder. Lightning can hit the dish and run down through the line into the decoder and/or into the TV. Best Wishes and Good Luck, JUS004
