Replace a cmos batter in dell inspiron 8100

Should be one of two places on the Dells. Look under the memory cover, if not under the keyboard. If you still can't find it, go to Dell's support site and pull a system diagram. If you haven't already, it's very helpful to know what the bat looks like. Dell uses a few different types.

The CMOS battery most likely is a button battery, probably a CR2032 lithium battery. The battery could be located on the bottom of the laptop behind one of the panels or under the keyboard. There is no MOP, when you remove the battery it may default to the factory defaults (depends how long the battery has been removed) and you need to go into the BIOS setting to set the Date and Time etc.

You need to remove keyboard first, and cmos battery is right under it if I'm not mistaken.

Black screen issue I believe is related to video card. Anyways try to update bios too.
