Tried to print a picture of a bright flower and the printer quit half way and now we can not find the paper. Think it maybe a jammed fuser.

This error can be caused by the following:

1. Fuser that is close to end of life. Maximum print quantity is 225,000 pages.

2. poor quality paper, very thin paper never feeds well and will jam.

3. Printing an image that is almost entirely black can cause the paper to buckle before entering the fuser.


Try different paper to see if that resolves the problem.

John, try alligning the cartridges.

1. Up to where paper traveled.. If its reached up to Fuser assembly & curl folds accrued under cartridge.. replace Teflon sleeve or Fuser assembly.
2. If paper traveled up to Fuser out(near 2-3 inch)...Clean/replace/flag Fuser out paper sensor
3. If paper traveled up to registration assembly:Clean registration sensors/flags.
4. Check pickup rollers.

The fuser sensor may look ok, but if you pull off the back cover and study closer, you may find that the lower half of the right toggle sensor is broken, leading the sensor to "think" that is is stuck in the open postition. As a temporary fix, unplug that sensor from the fuser board. Ultimately you will have to replace that switch, and that is a hard part to find unless you replace the fuser unit.

does the exit switch stick up in the back of the fuser into the paper path? I've had to replace lots of the exit sensor flags because the top half was broken off while clearing a paper jam.

This sounds like a classic fuser failure. Take the printer to a qualified repair facility and they can replace the fuser and check all of the fuser and exit drives for proper operation.

It sounds like your fuser is causing the jame,.

when you remove the paper can you wipe the toner off the page or does it adhear to the paper ?

If it does not the fuser is causing the jam, if the toner does not wipe off the paper then the feed tires would be the cause of your jam

The fuser is at the back of the printer and will be very hot, so be careful.

What happened is that the fuser has quit working properly. You would need to have the fuser replaced.

Check the FUSER, I think your exit sensor is bad.
If you open the rear door, look inside where the paper starts to come out of the printer, you should see a small lever that triggers the PAPER EXIT sensor. It might be hard to see. If it is not broken, you need a new FUSER.

There are 3 little black and white rollers under the cover on the back of the printer. They are pushed under the upper rollers. They should be on the outside of the upper rollers. Somehow they got wedged under the upper rollers. This should fix the accordian paper jam.
