Loading mechanism fault. Check the loading belt. If it is broken, CD won't eject, or load well inside the mechanism. If loading motor is damaged, this kind of fault can occur. Anyway, you have to take out the mechanism out of it to get it repaired. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy. SOURCE: sony cdp-c545 won't open

Without turning the unit upside down, look at the bottom of the player. You should see a small round hole toward the front of the unit, with a white plastic part inside with a slot. Take a screwdriver and turn this gear manually with the power off. You should be able to unload the discs by rotating this gear. Be careful not to tilt the unit, as the discs will fall out of the tray, and you'll have to open it to retrieve them.

Once you have the discs out, put in only one disc and see if the unit plays. If you get a disc error, you probably need to clean the lens on the laser. Open the unit, use a cotton swab that has been pre-wetted with glass cleaner to wipe the lens on the laser. Do this gently, don't press down hard on the lens. Use the other end of the swab to dry the lens. Try loading a disc with the top cover off and see if it spins. If it doesn't spin, try turning it by hand. If you can't turn it by hand, the gears have gotten out of alignment.

In this case, use your screwdriver again, noting which way the gear on the bottom of the unit spins when the drawer is going into the unit. Then turn the gear until it "pops" past one or two teeth, and then you should see the laser assembly rise up and meet the clamp assembly on the top of the tray. These are the most common problems with the 5 disc players that Sony made. Many times I could fix them in 30 seconds or less using this procedure.

SOURCE: Discs stuck inside CD Player. Screen says ''Reading.''

Try resetting the CD (Cambridge soundworks) by unplugging, then repluging. Then hold down the eject button while you turn on the power.

I can not get my Crosley CR248 Songwriter to Finalize when I try to transfer from cassette to cd. It keeps showing me FAIL....

I don't know this particular machine but here are some general comments.
Most CD recorders need you to press (and sometimes hold) the record button followed by the play button before tehy actually record anything (if you don't press the play button you will still hear sound via headphones etc. but no recording file will be created)
Does it record from vinyl records okay or is it just cassettes?
Are you using the correct sort of CD?
We use a Denon CD recorder and it only works with AUDIO CDs - computer data CDs or CDRWs will not work in it. Even if the Crossley will accept computer CDs it may require a particular format either +ve or -ve (labelled CDR+ or CDR-) to be compatible. Once you have tried finalising a disk and it has failed you cannot use the same disk again.

Crosley Radio CR246 CD door will not open

Try checking these:

- the CD door motor rubber drive belt (if there is one), it could be either loosened or broken, if so, it needs to be replaced

- the door open/closed sensor switches (contacts), they could be oxydized or damaged, they are located somewhere under the CD tray, possibly at the front end of the unit (depends on brand and model), you need to clean these with some fine sandpaper

It could be something else like the door motor driver IC, the power supply for the motor, a bad capacitor in the motor drive section, a loose connection or a broken wire somewhere, but hopefully, it's just a bad rubber belt or a dirty contact.
