Crosley Radio CR246 CD door will not open

I have a Crosley Radio CR246 turntable with CD Recorder. The CD door will not open. Whether I press the manual Eject button or the remote eject button, the display reads OPEN. The display then reads CD LOAD, but of course there's nothing to load since the door didn't open! There is no sound coming from the unit (like a motor attempting to open the drive, nothing like that). Help!

Try checking these:

- the CD door motor rubber drive belt (if there is one), it could be either loosened or broken, if so, it needs to be replaced

- the door open/closed sensor switches (contacts), they could be oxydized or damaged, they are located somewhere under the CD tray, possibly at the front end of the unit (depends on brand and model), you need to clean these with some fine sandpaper

It could be something else like the door motor driver IC, the power supply for the motor, a bad capacitor in the motor drive section, a loose connection or a broken wire somewhere, but hopefully, it's just a bad rubber belt or a dirty contact.

I had a problem with a crosley cd not opening. The problem was the plastic pulley on the motor was loose on the shaft of the motor. I pulled it off and glued it back with J.B. weld to fix the problem.

No sound from Crosley Director

I am wondering if you were ever successful in getting any sound? My unit is doing the same thing, but it has been since I plugged my phone in the line-in jack. Everything is powered, but no sound and I called Crosley and it is a discontinued model. There is no phono/line switch and if there was, I believe my problem would be solved. Thank you, if you get this and answer what your results were!

Why does my crosley turntable/cassette player/cd recorder cuts off when I play it?Whenever I try to record from a cassette to a cd it cuts off.

I would suspect that you have a bad record laser in the CD recorder assembly, this is common, and this is usually what it is. To this end you would need to replace this unit's laser assembly, it will/may still play a CD OK, but will not write to the CD, as they are two separate lasers. So if you wish to try to repair you will need to contact Crosley and ask them what to do, ask for a referral to an authorised service center or perhaps even return it to them? In any event ONLY ask for a "Quote" first and see how much it may cost before proceeding.

My Crosley CR246 makes a humming noise when place on Phono. The noise continues while turntable spins and adjusts with the volume button.

Remove the cartridge head shell from the arm and reinsert it. You must be having a contact problem with the cartridge. ( loose connection )
