Cdr drawer won't open on Philips cdr 800.

The cdr drawer won't open. It worked fine for many years, but recently tried to record music and discovered that the cdr drawer wouldn't open no matter what buttons were pushed. Tried unplugging, putting it into standby mode, pushing fast forward/reverse buttons simultatneously, putting it into demo mode. Nothing worked. I hear no mechanical clicking or other noise from that drive. The play carousel works fine.

Looks like the rotor is jam or broken,try to unscrew it and open the top cover so you can see the rotor and then plug it in to the power source ,then always press the open/close button and check the rotor if its jam or broken and see what happen.

Tascam CDR-W5000 CD Recorder won't open the tray (drawer). Please help!

This could be a bad belt or a defective end sense switch. The parts are no longer available I am told for this unit by New Jersey Factory Service where the could be fixed. This is one of the older models.

Phillips cdr 200 recorder, just recorded 13 tracks with time left over on sony brand recordable cds for music. i switched from analog to digital to finalize and it took 4 mins however RECORDABLE still...

It sounds like it didn't truly finalize. Try finalizing it again since the 'recordable' status implies it still qualifies. You have to press RECORD immediately after FINALIZE.

The Philips directory lists a few CDR200 models but the documentation contains directiosn for CDR765.

http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/c/

for example...
http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/c/cdr200bk/cdr200bk_dfu_aen.pdf

If for some reason you ever want or need to extract music from a non-finalized CDR or CDR-W, try loading it into a standard DVD player. Without a TOC the player won't be able to display track info or navigate to individual tracks but it MAY play it straight through anyway and you could digitally capture all or part of the output on another CDR. Just be aware that if the original is rewriteable and has old data beyond the new data you will crash into it without warning at the end of the new data, so be ready to pause your copy at the appropriate time.

When i put a balank cdr the recorer says wrong

Listen to it. Go out and buy "CD-R for AUDIO" or "CD-Music" blank CD's and it will cooperate. Home CD recorders are designed to reject data CD-R media for recording.

Disc indicates "disc full" after only a couple minutes of recordi

Brand of disk or bad laser alignment can cause this. if you have changed brands of disks go back to the others and if you have not then laser alignment is the most likely cause and can be fixed by a certified technician in this field.

I cannot open the DVD drawer on my Philips DVDR3480 DVD RECORDER – it just won’t open? The screen display just keeps saying ‘Error’. Any help is appreciated.

I have two of these dvd recorders and both have the exact same problem where the drive won't open. It opens fine when there is a disc in the tray. So I just unscrewed the cover, press the white part which would be over the center of the disc as it's trying to open, it should then open. Then just make sure there is always disc left in the tray.

Recording trouble

Hi again,

I understand. Must be a glitch somewhere. Anyways, I already posted possible solutions here your original posting/problem. They were:
1. Power on the Philips FW-R7, leave the left tray empty and closed. Open the tray and put in a recorded CD (not a CDR but a regular CD from your music collection), close the right tray. Wait a couple of seconds as the FW-R7 reads the CD. Now open the tray, remove the music CD and insert your CDR. The FW-R7 should read the CDR without the error message and record to the CDR from any source. Let me know if this works for you;
2. laser cleaning or realignment (would need a service center);
3. try using lower then 40X blank CDs.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Wrond Disc

The disc you need to use to record is "PHILIPS CDR MUSIC". That is what it should day on the top of the disc. On the left side of the disc, it should say "DIGITAL AUDIO RECORDABLE". I spent a lot of money buying the wrong discs before finally finding the correct one. So I know your frustration!

RECORD DROP OUT

Just bought this CDR 570 and not use yet.

Reading the instruction manual - yes, life experience has taught me some really useful stuff! -

Under 'Discs for recording' on page 7 it says at end of section

IMPORTANT:
To ensure proper working of the set we recommend the use of PHILIPS audio CDR and audio CDRW discs only'
Roughly translated I read this to me - 'don't blame us if the set don't work using other (non-compatible) discs' !!
