Sounds like you are getting some feedback from somewhere. I would check inside the mic connector for a shorted, loose, or twisted wire then check inside the mic itself for same, if you can, try a different mic that is wired for your radio, my bet is there is some stray RF floating around somewhere.
Hope this helps,

I have a galaxy 98vhp an when i flip the switch for more power an key up it just squealing. I've turn down mic gain and turned down the power and still does it but if i flip the switch down it...

It sounds like you either have a mis-matched antenna, a poor antenna connection, or your radio is too close to the antenna. Try moving the radio further away from the antenna.

Galaxy dx959 will not receive. Speaker is working. S meter is showing incoming signal.

the over power doides may be blown. you should start there .they should be marked D-1 and D-2. you may want to replace them with diodes of a higher rating.

The Unit Has Started to Hum on Startup

Do you get audio from all channels(speakers)or are some not working? If some are working and some are not and the hum is only on some speakers and not on others then you most likely have a problem only in the audio amplifier section that supplies that speaker(s) if the hum is on all speakers and present with the volume all the way down it could be a power supply problem such as bad electrolytic capacitors. This may take some detective work to track down.

Why is the variabel key un stable on Galaxy DX959

Dirt or corrosion on the controls, the relay contacts, and even some switch contacts. Contact cleaner applied judiciously should remedy most of the potential causes.

The variabel key drops sometimes drops when radio is keyed up and sometime the RF power knob has to be turned farther to bring it back up on my Galaxy DX959.

I'm not shure if you have tried but turn the mic gain down then check the d.k output. If you still lose power after a d.k it could be a final it's hard to say w/o seeing it. Also an external meter is more stable than the internal one. Check your coax, make shure all are tight. If you need more help e-mail me at

Good luck

Humming speakers

If you disconnect the signal leads and the hum is away, it's probably a groundloop problem, or your equipment is generating the hum.
If it does not go away, the amps are defective

Have new dx959 doesnt get out very far talking 100yrds or so use rdking 56 mic mic works fine on old radio pc 78 and gets out fine also are 959 radios ok or junk has good reception

The DX959 has an output power setting knob. It's located next to the channel selector and is labeled RF Power. Turned counterclockwise will reduce output power. Turned clockwise will increase output power. Your switch is probably turned all the way counterclockwise resulting in low transmit volume.
Also, make sure the wiring for the RK59 is correct for the Galaxy. Even though it's a 4 pin plug, the pinouts may be different for the Uniden and Galaxy radios. Do a Google search for mic pinouts for your two radios to check.

MY NEW SAMSUNG LN32A550 TV HAS A HUM FROM THE SPEAKERS

In most cases it's the Cable issue. Either bad Cable Box or the Wires are not grounded properly. Disconnect the Audio Cables or the COAX cable from the Cable Box and see if the Humming noise goes away.

148GTL Cobra (no tx)

Bad transmitter. You can:
1) take it to a repair shop
2) get a new radio
3) repair the transmitter with a stock replacement transmitter
4) check the inside of the radio, make sure everything is where it's supposed to be
5) make sure that you are using the correct power supply for the unit

If the problem is too extensive and you consider getting a new radio similar to the 148GTL, try the Galaxy DX 2527. It's a BIG radio. But it's production was discontinued. If you can't find a Galaxy DX 2527, try a Galaxy DX 2517, it's similar to the DX 2527, but with less features, but has great sound, I get nothing but good comments when I talk on it. The DX 2527 has an okay transmitter, it doesn't sound all too good by itself, so that's why you have the echo and robot voice changer options.

Hope this helps!
