RCA 32V434T TV Turns itself on and off, changes channel and volume by itself. Frquency of off and on is as many as 20 times in 5 minutes. I even removed the batteries from the remote to make sure it wasn't the problem. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem. Got it to stay on by unplugging the front button pc board while I researched the issue. It seems that the switches on said pc board begin to "leak resistance" and cause all kinds of problems like on/off, color maxes out, as well as other crazy stuff. After calling RCA and getting no help I decided to remove those seven micro-switches off of the board and, wouldn't you know! Everything is ok with the exception of not being able to controll the tv from the tv itself. Small sacrifice for a free fix. All tv functions work from the remote. Again, a small sacrifice for a free fix! Just be careful when poking around inside, high-voltage and stuff.

I did that, exactly...unsoldered the buttons from the front that are on the circuit board, worked like a charm, like you say...small sacrifice for a free fix, so what if i can not turn the tv off and on with the front of the tv, who does that anyways, that is why we have remotes...simple fix...done and done

First try to see if the problem lies in the actual buttons of the tv or in the infra red receiver(IR). Try this by covering the IR completely with black tape. If the problem is solved, then it is related to another device that is emitting IR signals and your TV is registering them randomly. If the problem persists, then it is hardware related.

SOURCE: rca turns itself off and on and scans thru all the channels

I have an easier solution, First I want to thank those who posted the solution that the problem is on the small switch board mounted right behind the switches under the picture tube. I figured that might be where the problem was but it's better to to see it confirmed. I thought the problem was more complex like maybe an IC chip got zapped or something but there are none on that board. Only 6 switches, the infared sensor, 1 capacitor and some resistors. I am convinced that in my case at least the problem is caused by humidity. It happened last year constantly durring humid weather in the summer and only a couple of times over the winter when the air is dry and cooler. I did figure an easier way to disconnect all the switches without unsoldering. After you remove the board, flip it over to the solder side and see where the wires connect. You will see them labled GND - KEY - +5 v - LED and IR. The one you want is labled KEY. You will see on the other side this wire is second from the end . Just separate the wires a bit and cut it. That's it. Just be sure it is the one marked KEY. This wire goes thru a series of resistors and the switches and nothing else. Just cut that one wire and put a piece of tape over the cut ends and thats it. it's a lot easier then unsoldering all 6 switches. And if you do decide at some point later to replace the switches, it's easy to resolder the wires and tape it. I did it this way and my TV is working perfect. I was done in ten minutes. You can only control the TV with the remote but so what, thats all we use 95% of the time anyway. I hope this helped you.

My rca remote turns the toshiba tv on but it dont change channels

U are using an RCA remote with Toshiba tv. You are lucky that it even turns the set on. You have different remote frequencies involved and need to use the Tosiba remote or a universal remote that will operate volume, channels and power.

RCA 32V434T (32'') TV has no Red or Green pixels, only Blue

The color problems are caused by cracked/broken solder joints on the circuit that controls the display.  Usually this is located at the back of the tube on a small circuit board. Your description suggests that only the blue signal circuit is intact. I suggest these joints be resoldered for more strength.
It's a possibility that another IC senses this problem (or another one) and then shuts down the system.
Resolder those joints and see what happens.

RCA 32V434T TV turns itself off and on by itself. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

When your tv turns on by it self you prob have the alarm set. For the tv to turn like a clock would go off when u need to get up. You need to check the the sleep/ wake up timer to see if it is set.

Tv turns on by itself

Hey Bubba,
If your TV is turning on by itself at about the same time each day you may have a timer activated, turn it it off, the TV's micro might need too be reset. To reset unplug your TV from the a/c outlet for at least 5 minutes.
