LG 1080P tv turns on by itself. Also when turning it on volume will surge to 100% and can't control volume or change channels

TV will turn itself on at random times and when it does the volume surges to 100%. At other times you can be watching TV and all of a sudden volume will surge and you can no longer change channels or control volume even after turning it off on the tv itself, remote no longer works TV when this happens.

One possible thought is to change the batteries in the remote itself.

SOURCE: Remote control does not work for my plasma tv

I also had this same problem. Both the original remote and my universal remote failed to give any response on the TV. Normally the green light flashes when it receives a command from the remote. Called LG Support and they made me an appointment with a local repair company for 3 days later. This seemed pretty quick compared to other companies repair times I'd read about. However next day the repair company called to say it would be 5 more days before they could get a Tech to my location (downtown ATL). 8 days was a long time to wait but once tech arrived he diagnosed it to a bad board and simply went to his truck and swapped it out with mine under factory warranty. Everything has been fine since.

SOURCE: LG TV 32LB9D VOLUME STUCK AT 100, NO RESPONSE TO REMOTES

The fault may be on the control board. Sometimes the button switches can be stuck, or there may be something causing some conduction on the control circuit board. It is also possible to have a component failure that is causing a continuous command to keep the volume to the high position.

Something that causes failures of controls in TV sets is when people clean the screen, they spray liquid cleaner on the screen. Some of it drips down in to the controls and on to the circuit board. This will usually cause damage, and thus the set will require shop service.

LG plasma 50PK550 remote will not turn TV off and ON. unplug and plug power cord in it turns on showes chanel 3 left upper corner & volumn minimum left lower corner then turns to white screen .

You should have manual buttons on the tv itself to control input and volume. It appears it is defaulting to antenna channel 3 and low volume when first powered on. You can buy universal remotes to control your set.

I cannot adjust volume or change channels on TV or with the remote. Do I need a new motherboard?

Unplug the TV, and leave it unplugged for abt 20 minutes,
Plug it back in, turn it on, and see if it has reset itself.
The channel and volume control memory and adjustments are on the main or motherboard

Bush lcd42f1080p100hz remote will not turn tv on

I had come home about a week ago and pushed the power button from my remote but my tv did not respond. So I just went to the front panel and pushed power but once the tv turned on, the volume was on full blast! I used the front panel volume decrease to get the volume down, but when I stopped pushing the button, the tv increased its volume to full blast again by itself! Naturally I just turned the tv off for a few moments. I tried the remote again, no response again, so I used the panel power button. The tv volume was still full blast when it turned on but after I decreased the volume it stayed this time. The picture is and has been perfectly fine and the tv was working fine. The next day the problem started all over and now once we turned it off from frustration of having to manually use the panel to change channels, it now will not turn on at all. I have changed batteries from my remote, reprogrammed my remote, pushed system reset several times, unplugged it for a while, bought a new surge charge, and even held the menu and device panel buttons for 10 sec and tried to turn the t.v. on again! What other options do I have or what may be the issue at hand and possible parts that may need to be replaced?? Thanks!!

Toshiba 32AF44. While watching a baseball game yesterday, the volume bar appeared by itself and scrolled down to zero. The bar will not disappear. It's like someone is holding the down button. Tried...

Main system control memory IC fault. This is a very small IC; have 8 solder terminals, and can be located very near to the main system control-chroma IC. Check and replace it. Be sure to replace it with the same number printed on it; in all respect. Otherwise, it won't go. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Before replacing it, try a reset to this set, and then check.
There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here.
