Ge zv850 vent hood

I have a GE 36" Island Vent Hood, model ZV850. The fan and lights stopped working. After I reset the circuit breaker to the hood, the fan seemed to work for a couple of hours, but stopped working again. I repeated the reset process 3-4 times, it is like this every time. What is the problem ?

Terminated to the correct wires and that you have good splices, if the issue continues it may be a faulty unit

You will need to replace the "control board" on the unit. Here is a link to the part. Here is a diagram of your hood. The part is number 20 on the diagram.

How to Replace switch and circuit board brown model 88,000-c

Replacing a switch and circuit board on a Broan vent hood model 88,000-c requires some electrical knowledge and experience. If you are not comfortable working with electricity, it is recommended that you hire a licensed electrician to perform the replacement.
Here are the general steps for replacing the switch and circuit board on your Broan vent hood:
  1. Turn off the power to the vent hood. You can do this by turning off the circuit breaker or unplugging the vent hood.
  2. Remove the cover of the vent hood. This usually involves removing screws or clips that hold the cover in place.
  3. Locate the switch and circuit board. The switch and circuit board are typically located near the control panel on the vent hood.
  4. Disconnect the wiring from the old switch and circuit board. Take note of which wires go where, so you can reconnect them to the new switch and circuit board.
  5. Remove the old switch and circuit board from the vent hood.
  6. Install the new switch and circuit board in the same location as the old ones.
  7. Reconnect the wiring to the new switch and circuit board. Make sure to connect the wires to the correct terminals.
  8. Replace the cover of the vent hood.
  9. Turn the power back on to the vent hood and test the new switch and circuit board to ensure that they are working properly.
If you encounter any difficulties during the process, it is best to stop and seek assistance from a professional. Safety is a top priority when working with electrical systems, and it is important to take proper precautions to avoid injury or damage to your home.

Ge monogram fan dying slow death...first hi-spd. only, now only humming, lights work...is it fuse, transformer or worse, blower assembly

My best guess is the blower motor is going out -- probably the bearings. You might be able to replace just the motor excluding the propeller or the squirrel cage as the case maybe.

Can this be installed over an island?

Bring a focal point to your kitchen by having an island range hood, combining function and elegant form. A suspended hood is also an efficient way to vent
grease, odors and smoke to the outside from a island stovetop while you cook. You can install an island range hood in just a few hours with the right tools
and knowledge.
1.Wear safety glasses and work gloves. Turn off the electricity to your kitchen at the circuit panel. Cover the circuit breaker with a piece of electrical
tape to prevent people from turning the on switch while you are at work.
2.Lay work drop cloths on your cooktop and floor to catch dust and debris. Mark the duct opening with a pencil in the ceiling, where the island hood will be
installed. Be sure the opening is centered directly above your cooktop. Cut the opening using a hacksaw.
3.Go up to the roof, using a cat's claw and hammer to remove stucco, tiles, sheathing and insulation to make way for the steel venting duct. Drop a
plumb bob down the roof, making sure the line is straight down for the ductwork.
4.Follow the manufacturer's instructions for locations, installing 2-by-2 wooden blocks in the ceiling to hold the ductwork hangers.
5.Install the venting duct from the outside of the home, down to the location of the exhaust vents on the island hood. The ducts should easily slip into each
other. Secure all the duct sections with duct sealing putty, using a putty knife.
6.Screw a roof cap on the end of the duct at the roof. Seal any openings or gaps where the roof, ceiling and duct meet with silicon sealant. Let the sealant
dry, then paint with colors matched to the surrounds.
7.Place your hood upside-down on the floor, with the fan and filter facing upward. Locate and unscrew the metal electrical box cover on the island range
hood, to expose the wiring
8.Install the hood cover to the load-bearing ceiling frame with the package hardware through the four inside mounting corner flanges on the cover.
9.Measure what will be the distance from the bottom of your hood to the cooktop; it should not exceed 30 inches for exhaust efficiency. Have a helper hold
the hood in place while you attach the hood on the hood cover using the included screws. Use a level be sure the hood is level as mounted.
10.Connect the electrical wiring by consulting the manufacturer's suggestions or hire an electrician if you are not familiar with house wiring. Tuck the wires neatly in the hood electrical box and then replace the cover, after connecting the hood wires to the wall wiring.
11.Remove the electrical tape on the circuit breaker, turn on the electricity to your kitchen and test your island range hood.

Ge downdraft vent

try removing the switch from the ribbon connector, and then jumping the two pins momentarily with a screwdriver blade or other metallic tool. It could be that the switch itself is bad. This is the same problem I'm having and I am currently looking for a replacement switch online.

Futuro Island Vent Hood

Hi snuds1369,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: You have a situation that recently has started with your Futuro Island Vent Hood. In the past a blue light would be on the display (4 buttons) when the hood was on. Recently the blue light for the hood is now on when the hood is off. Is there a way to reset this?

Yes. Turn off at the breaker for 30 min. If this doesn't work it's an indication the control chip has a problem.

The control circuit board needs to be removed and repaired. We routinely repair these from customers nationwide for $32.50. It sure beats the cost of a new board!
