Hi I am Vortash most Tv sets have a channel change button on the front of the set sometimes behind a drop down panel it will have the symbol AV written on it .. when pressed the set will say either Av1 AV2 etc or Aux 1 aux 2 .. if you have scart sockets on the back usually Av 1 is this socket and Av2 the front sockets Phono or Bnc plugs .. sometimes the Av is switched by pressing the program button to Zero or Av from the front set controls + and - Prog .. If you are unsure you can download a manual for your set if you don't have one from http://www.safemanuals.com
free of charge usually and it will explain all the conections you need ... Regards Vortash

How do I hook up a dvd player to vs 4544?

Its a old set but hookup should from a DVD player be to the rear audio and video inputs---note color of jacks on player--you will need for that old set composite--yellow(video and color), red and white for sound.

If the player does not have them (composite) you have a real problem.

Once connected use the input button on the front of the set to change to that input that you hooked the player up to (video 1 or 2 etc.)

you have to change the input on the tv to AV. there should be an input button on the remote, but if your remote doesnt work you might not be able to change the input. you can try to use the channel up and down on the tv and once you get to the end of the numbers, some tvs will change inputs before restarting the number list. make sure you hook the yellow cable to the yellow plugs on the dvd and the tv and either of the red or white ones to the white one on the tv. red and white are left and right audio and the yellow one is the video

Im trying to set up my tv, it was given to me as a gift, my uncle was using it it works i can change the channels but when i try to work my dvd player with it, only the audio comes on the screen stays...

Hi,
Please few things...
1- Make sure audio and video wires are hooked correctly in AV input of tv and you selected that AV input in tv with its remote.
2- Also check your dvd has not been set on progressive mode if you hook dvd player through yellow-red-white wires with tv.
3- if dvd player is set on progressive mode, then hook it with tv by component video input, red-green-blue for video and red-white for audio.
Hope this info will solve your problem.
Thanks.

I have a dvd player that I am trying to hook up to a sharp tv model number 25L-M100B. This tv don't have the necessary ports inthe back to plug dvd or anything up to it. It does have 2 in the front of

Hook the dvd player up to the front inputs usually a yellow and a red or possibly a yellow red and white depending if the TV is stereo or not.

Then on your remote, it the INPUT button and take it to "VIDEO 1" while your dvd player is on and you should get a picture.

Make sure not to mix the cable colors.
Yellow is video
White Audio
Red Audio
A lot of times there is only either white or red and not both. This is just Mono sound, it works, just not "stereo" sound.

I want to hook a system

you will only be able to get digital surround( dolby digital ) from your dvd player( by the coax or optical digital connections ) , the rest will only be in virtual surround

from the dtv box plug the yellow video jack(RCA) into the vcr video input , then plug the audio jack or jacks into the audio input on the vcr. from the vcr hook the audio out to the audio in on the reciever( tv/vcr/sat... input ) , then also connect RF out from the VCR to RF in on the TV .
for the dvd player hook the "s-video out" to the "s-video in" on the tv , then the audio L and R on same s-video input , then send the audio out connection on tv to L and R input on reciever dvd L and R input , then you will need to connect the optical from the dvd player to the reciever or coax connections for the dolby digital on the reciever to work

How to hook up my dvd player to my cable box

Richard,

I would have to guess that you are hooking up a DVD recorder?

If you are then you take the video and audio cables out of the cable box and hook them in to the DVD R input plugs. The output wires go to the TV video/ audio in. Its just like hooking up a VCR.

Now if you are trying to hook the DVD player up to watch movies then you have to hook up the audio/video cables up from the DVD to the back of the TV into your Video 1/2 input. If you have the Component wires you hook them up the same way.

Now if your TV only has the one set of plugs (video/audio) then goto your local Audio/Video store and pick up the A/V cables that have the "Y" or "T" plug on one end.

I hope this helps you.

If the tv is on can you see the words (input, volume bar, menus, etc.) do you hear audio? does the player work on another tv, since you have a sylvania tv, are you using the game button on the top of the remote to switch to the jacks on the front? Good luck :0)
