It depends on the model number. Whirlpool started building 25 cu.ft over ten years ago and the model is still being produced. Please find the serial and number printed on the refrigerator service tag and give us the complete model number along with serial number. The model number will tell us the initial date of production, the serial number tells us the date of production of the specific unit. Here whirlpool date codes explained. To find the service tag check in locations illustrated below.

This unit has a ONE YEAR warranty from date of purchase with a proof of purchase(receipt)..

The date of manufacture is determined by the SERIAL number. The following link explains:

The first two numbers in the serial number identify the WEEK it was manufactured. The last digit before the number sequence identifies the YEAR.

how old is it ? and if is just humming is etheir a locked compressor wich if it is then depending on age if is less than 5 years from todays date then just call frigedaire and they will fix it for free but is it was manufacture more than five years ago then is trash , now is just the overload then just buy the part and replace it and you will see if it turns on the overload is the part siiting right on the left side on compressor , fyi the maunufactures date is on the name plate on the wall i belived is on the left hand side
