SOURCE: my denon reciever display wont't work

I read something the other day in the user manual about re-setting the microprocessors if the display doesn't display properly. Turn the amp off.  Hold down the input mode & analog buttons while turning power on. The whole display should flash on & off at 1 sec intervals, then release the two buttons. This resets the microprocessors & supposedly fixes display problems.

SOURCE: Denon AVR 2800 digital hookup to PS3

If your TV has an HDMI input, hook up the PS3 w/an HDMI cable to the TV. This will give you a high def picture (set up the PS3 to output the max resolution your TV displays). That will take care of the video side.

Next hook up an optical cable from the PS3 to the receiver. In the PS3 menu, you have to change the audio settings to output the sound via the optical cable.

Finally to get sound out of the receiver to the speakers, you have to setup the receiver source input. For example if you setup the PS3 to play thru "VCR" input, then you have to make sure the VCR input is setup to use either optical 1 or optical 2 for sound (whichever one you have the optical cable plugged in from the PS3).

  • I found this solution on a different site... it worked for me. I needed to change the sound settings in my ps3 to optical... then i selected dolby 5.1.... that took care of my sound.

I get live radio reception in the background of my avr-1513 reciever

Some part of your signal path is acting as an RF antenna. You can systematically disconnect signal cables to isolate the culprit. If a line level or phono level cable is found to be the cause, try ferrite core snap-on shields and also try re-routing signal cables. Try to keep power cables away from signal cables as far as is practicable.

Denon 1513 overheating

It's possible that it might be a fault on the unit. One or more of the output devices could have a thermal problem. However at 80 watts it might be driving the amp a bit too hard, maximum for it seems to be between 75 and 110. Are all channels capable of delivering the 80 that is the question? If one is capable of only 75, then the answer will be that channel is the one overheating.
If that is the case you would be better with an AVR that can deliver 100 watts on all channels. As for the choice go for what you can afford and look at the customer reviews closely. They are the best guide to a decent bit of kit.

Denon avr-1513 shutting off and blinking red light

Sounds like you could have a bad speaker connection. Try disconnecting the speakers and see if it stays on. If so, connect one at at a time until it goes off to determine which one.
