My monitor is displaying the contrast.... screen all the time!! I

The way you adjust brightness and contrast varies and depends on your specific display.

• Brightness and contrast buttons on the front of the monitor. Some monitors have brightness and contrast controls on the front and use the standard symbols shown in the following image.

• On-screen menu. You can change the brightness and contrast settings for some displays by using an on-screen menu, and then setting the brightness and contrast in the resulting menu. Many times, you can view the on-screen menu by pressing a button-possibly labeled Menu-on the front of the monitor.

You may have LCD controller board (T--CON, part of the LCD panel) going bad or loose connection, or the Logic board. You will need to open it up and inspect the inside. First check the power supply to make you do not have bad caps with bulging op/seal. You may also have to do some voltage checking. Post back what you see first so we can guide you further.

I jsut have a bad feeling that it is bad screen.

Are the graphics drivers loaded.
(Assuming you are using Windows) what happens when you rightclick on the desktop screen and you click on the Settings Tab

This is common problem observed in many monitors compaq,HP,IBM this is happens mainly in rainy season due to moisture,by this moisture monitor botton circuit get rust inside and button pad remain pressed. so it shows a strip at the middle of monitor like contrast or brightness. So this is minor problem just replace the monitor display control button sensor or circuit.It deffinately solves your problem.

If your inverter is good I,de say your backlight is going bad, I just replaced mine in a sony vaio and now it seams to bright.

The contrast may be to high.
Adjust the brightness and contrast to make it go away but still readable.
if that does not help the FL (backlight) is going and the unit will need to be replaced.

I fixed it myself, it seems that the monitor have some problems remembering it's settings and sometimes it automatically set its settings to crazy values that are out of the range that we are allowed to input. For my case, the setting that was crazy was the gamma setting since it was set so high. I wasn't able to bring it back to a normal setting so I found a way to do it by resetting the monitor. So to reset these display settings such as colour, contrast, brightness and gama, you need to turn on the monitor and unplug the monitor without turning it off and plug it back in again. It will automatically power on and the correct default settings will be present.

Try pushing the contrast button, and then some of the other buttons once the contrast menu is up. To control those menus you use the buttons on the front of the monitor, not the keyboard and mouse.
