There certainly are no instructions in the user manual on increasing brightness of the display. I can't guess whether Pioneer's own support would address this concern for this discontinued model. Several appear available on Ebay for between $63 and $160. The service manual doesn't appear to address your concern: https://www.manualscenter.com/manuals/pioneer/pdf407-service-manual.html#.Y6yZgBXMJsc
Opening the hood from the outside can be complicated as in most cases you cannot access the latch assembly. Your key most likely won't work in the door lock due to lack of use causing the lock wafers to become stiff. Use some WD 40 and insert the straw into the lock and spray liberally. Take the key and work it back and forth until it goes in all the way and continue to move the key until the internal lock wafers free up. This procedure normally corrects a stiff/non functionig lock that hasn't been used in a while
check the hood switch, sounds like its saying to the security system that the hood or bonnet is open.if its a x350 model the switch is on one of the bonnet latches,
You mean Vsx 405, right? Model numbers are senseless enough without typos.
Are you saying you DON'T have a remote? How did you ever set it up? There are several CU-VSX105 remotes available on eBay, one at $9.99 and expiring in a few minutes (17:12 PDT). If you get this in time you could snipe it at the last 10 seconds.
Many a Pioneer receiver will come up MUTING if it powered down Muting. It's not clear if you have been experiencing unwanted shut-downs. Unwanted Muting or any other command could well originate with an unintended remote control source. Mask the receiver so it can't see other I/R sources.
I own a 1994 Buick LeSabre and I recently experienced the same problem with my hood. When this happened to me I first made sure the hood is fully locked (meaning, I pushed down on the hood making sure it is locked), then I had another person get in the car releasing the hood latch while I was outside with my fingers under the hood pulling up. Once opened, be sure to lubricate the locking mechcanism and the spring and your hood release problem will disappear.
If you had power this set on with the back off it will not work without closing the switch again and entering serv mode and reactvating . Call pioneer customer serv to get info to reset the unit. Must have pioneer remote to do this reset.
We had the same Pioneer DVD "tray lock" problem and I tried holding the button for 10 seconds and nothing happened. Tried 30 seconds, nothing happened. Tried almost a minute and nothing happened.
What worked: Not sure how long I held it the last time, but was holding it down while very very gently picking with my nails at the edge of the tray to try to pry it out a bit, and it opened! Now it seems to be working again.
