Is the compressor bad?
SOURCE: compressor runs for 5sec.
your relay and overload on side of compressor is bad.you can replace with original parts or a 3-n-1 hard to start.
SOURCE: freezer not freezing properly
You have a manual defrost freezer . Ice build up of over 1/2" can act like insulation on wires . If you have no frost build up , and runs constantly , then compressor or refrigerant leak is the problem . Advise to replace freezer . Only 2 parts on manual defrost freezer...compressor and cold control . Compressor will not run if bad cold control . If you have a leak , very expensive to have repaired .

Could be just a problem with your starting components on the compressor. you will need to remove the freezer back panel. Check to see if the frost pattern is even. If its even or no frost at all MOST LIKELY but not for sure its your starting components. If thats the case research URCO410's this is a universal starting device that has about a 95% success ratio and is much easier and cheaper to install than your OEM. If you have a repairman come out and look at it would almost guarantee if they are not factory authorized and its out of warranty they will use that part.

If you remove the evaporator cover and look at the frost on the evaporator is it fairly even frost from top to bottom? If you don't have frost on the bottom half of your evaporator then you have a freon leak. Do you have a model number for your unit?
What is the model number of your unit?
