SOURCE: freezer not freezing properly

You have a manual defrost freezer . Ice build up of over 1/2" can act like insulation on wires . If you have no frost build up , and runs constantly , then compressor or refrigerant leak is the problem . Advise to replace freezer . Only 2 parts on manual defrost freezer...compressor and cold control . Compressor will not run if bad cold control . If you have a leak , very expensive to have repaired .

SOURCE: frezzer not freezing

Could be just a problem with your starting components on the compressor. you will need to remove the freezer back panel. Check to see if the frost pattern is even. If its even or no frost at all MOST LIKELY but not for sure its your starting components. If thats the case research URCO410's this is a universal starting device that has about a 95% success ratio and is much easier and cheaper to install than your OEM. If you have a repairman come out and look at it would almost guarantee if they are not factory authorized and its out of warranty they will use that part.

SOURCE: does the control thermastat have anything to do with the freezer on my refrigerator getting cold but not freezing

If you remove the evaporator cover and look at the frost on the evaporator is it fairly even frost from top to bottom? If you don't have frost on the bottom half of your evaporator then you have a freon leak. Do you have a model number for your unit?

Gladiator freezer not freezing bottom part.

It sounds as though the refrigerant gas needs topping up. That can cause the compressor to become overworked, get hot and cause enough resistance to pop the GFCI.

Gladiator freezerator converted to regular frig 5 yrs ago but freezer is not getting cold enough. Also loud banging noise from the compressor during the winter months. thxs Mike

The first thing to investigate is the condenser coils to see if they are clean. If they are caked in dust and lint/dirt then they cannot shed the heat created when the compressor pressurizes the refrigerant gas. This is on the high (pressure) side of the system. the compressor pressurizes the gas and them it is cooled. Then it goes through an expansion valve resulting in the gas expanding and getting cold. this cold gas passes through coils inside the unit absorbing the eat inside and making the inside cold. So if the condenser coils are clogged up and cannot cool the gas then the machine will not work. the gas will return too hat to the compressor and it will be running really hot, perhaps knocking. Use a vacuum cleaner and a brush to remove the dust/dirt. lint etc. clogging the cooling fins and then see if the machine doesn't work better. after 5 years this sounds very likely to be the issue. It is quick and easy to do and costs you nothing. If it is not the problem then at least yu will not be paying a technician by the hour to try it first!

Gladiator Freezerator wont stay frozen in the bottom portion. It will go to temp when temp is mved, but then start to warm up. Why?

If the bottom freezer section of the Gladiator Freezerator is thawing out the usual cause is from the coils in the back of the top refrigerator section being iced up. The ice blockage prevents the fan from circulating cold air into the bottom freezer section. These units have a design flaw due to the defrost drain freezing up preventing water from draining out from under the coil. The long-term solution is to remove the back wall of the refrigerator section to get to the coil, thoroughly defrost the coil making sure the drain tube is clear, then wrap a couple turns of #12 or #14 copper house wire around the bottom of the defrost heater element and run it a few inches into the drain tube. Advise unplugging the unit when you do this.

I've had this fix on my Gladiator for a couple years and it has been working perfectly ever since. The freezer stays a constant 0 degrees F and no more thawed out food.

Our gladiator bottom freezer/refrigerator stopped working while we were on vacation last week. The motor still runs, but the air blowing out is not cold. We cleaned it out, unplugged it and plugged it in...

It is possible that your compressor has redduced in pumping or the gas pressure has redduced, ;leakage of gas. Sicne you had put off the fridge for sometime and tried again without any result, I think the compressor needs a good check. Since the fridge has to cool definately when the motor runs we must start from here . I hope you check this out or maybe get help to confirm definetely with an estimate. Good day.

Gladiator ref is not cooling properly

Check to see if there is cold air coming from the freezer to the refridgerator side through the vent holes The compressor maybe getting weak or the freon charge maybe low. Does the unit run a long time before it shuts off? 50 degrees is not cold enough for a freezer. You should be around 32 or less.
