98 camry door lock will not turn....

The lock on the driver side door of my 98 camry does not turn when you put the key in. The door locks and unlocks just fine when you use the electronic lock and if you use the key in the passenger side door. All of the other doors work normally. I doubt the lock is just stuck, I'm wondering if anyone knows what part I need.

no, no noises or double sound. the key simply won't turn, and if I forced it either the key would break or my wrist would.

really screwed with it alot just before trying the oil and it works, it was stuck so I assume the oil would have worked

My 98 kia sportage wont start

It sounds like the key sensor in the drivers door is malfunctioning, the drivers door is the only door that can enable/disable the alarm, if you try to unlock any of the others it will trigger the alarm.

Sometimes with my Kia I have to (without opening the door), cycle lock and unlock several times before the alarm is disarmed.

Have you tried this is succession, with all the doors locked:-

put the key in the drivers door, turn to lock and then to unlock, the alarm should disarm.

Also, if any of the door locks are jammed, the alarm will still activate when you try to unlock the drivers door.

If that fails and the alarm still activates, then it's a problem with the key sensor in the door.

How can I program the door locks on my 2002 Camry so they do not lock when you put the car in gear?

Put the key in the ignition, turn to the on position. Open the driver's door and remove the key (keep door open). Put the key in and out 4 times (in/ out only without any turning of the key) with the key out at the end. Hit drivers side unlock button 5 times. Wait at least ten seconds and shut the driver's door. Away you go. It will stay like this unless you remove the cars battery - if so you will have to do that sequence again. Works for most if not all toyotas

Driver side door doesn't lock or unlock with the remote. The rest of the doors work fine.

Does the Driver side door lock and unlock from the lock switch inside? If not then you have a bad motor or bad connection to the lock/unlock motor inside the door.

1999 Toyota Camry door lock and unlock issues

I believe this was done as a safety feature. It stops a potential car hyjacker from sneaking in the passenger door when you open the driver door. I know recent Hyundai models are set up such that if you turn the key in the driver's door once it only unlocks the driver's door. If you turn it twice in quick succession it unlocks all of the doors. Maybe the Camry is set up the same way.

'87 Camry door lock doesn't work

Try putting a little graphite lock lube in the lock to see if it is just stuck first. Does your key work on the other locks? Do you have a spare key that you haven't tried? If you need to pull the lock, use a trim removal tool to pull the door panel off, starting at the bottom removing the clips on the outer edge of the panel. Unscrew the fasteners holding the armrest on and be careful of the door handle to avoid bending the linkages. Door locks don't fail too often.
