It wont start when i open or unlock my door my flashers go off an even when i turn the key
It sounds like the key sensor in the drivers door is malfunctioning, the drivers door is the only door that can enable/disable the alarm, if you try to unlock any of the others it will trigger the alarm.
Sometimes with my Kia I have to (without opening the door), cycle lock and unlock several times before the alarm is disarmed.
Have you tried this is succession, with all the doors locked:-
put the key in the drivers door, turn to lock and then to unlock, the alarm should disarm.
Also, if any of the door locks are jammed, the alarm will still activate when you try to unlock the drivers door.
If that fails and the alarm still activates, then it's a problem with the key sensor in the door.
SOURCE: 99 kia sportage starter
if knocking on the starter makes it work everytime then it might need a shim installed between the starter and the block to hold it in a slightly different position to keep the drive gear from wedging into the flywheel
SOURCE: My 98 kia sportage wont idle properly
its most likely the idle air control valve. the sportage have problems with them sticking its a little black box on the front of the intake tube held on by two screws if you take it off and flush it with carb cleaner and clean the connector as well your problem should stop

This is a common problem, among others, with the Kia Optima and I have heard the same said of Magenta? owners. Don\'t expect any help from the dealership as it is not a recall issue and therefore they are happily raping their customers for new door locks to the tune of $360+ dollars. Unfortunately I had my Kia driver\'s door lock replaced at the dealership 5 years ago and just a few days ago it has failed again. I am not surprised as the dealership most likely replaced it with the same faulty Korean garbage that was in there in the 1st place. Expect failure again if you have this replaced. I have not experienced this issue with any other doors on the car at this time. If you are at all mechanically inclined, take off the door panel and do some diagnostics or repairs yourself. I am taking mine to a trusted mechanic to be fixed so hopefully they will not overcharge me for time & labor.
