I have a sharp notevision DLP xr10x projector. Two red lights, one is the lamp, the other standby/power. I changed the lamp but nothing changed. I can't even turn the thing on. Any ideas?

The fault seems related to the lamp but it will be good to revisit the replacement of the lamp, check the lens cover section , the lamp cover as there are safety micro switches that need to be active to start the lamp. Also the filter must be cleaned. Check the power supply , check the connectors and fuse. If none of these rectify then the fault can be within the power supply or processor board.

The lamp life becomes 0%, when used
for approximately 4,000 hours with "Eco
Mode" or when used for approximately
2,000 hours with "Standard Mode" (see
page 43).

When the remaining lamp life becomes
5% or less, " " (yellow) will be displayed
on the screen. When the percentage becomes
0%, " " will change to " " (red),
the lamp will automatically turn off and
then the projector will automatically enter
the standby mode. At this time, the
lamp indicator will illuminate in red.

If you try to turn on the projector a fourth
time without replacing the lamp, the projector
will not turn on.

Reset the lamp timer.
1,Connect the power cord.
2,While simultaneously holding down "menu","enter" and "down" on the projector, press "standby/On" on the projector and keep all four buttons pressed down until the lamp indicator starts blinking green.
"LAMP 0000H" is displayed, indicating that the lamp timer is reset.

According to pg. 45 in the owner's manual, you turn Keylock function ON by holding down the ENTER key on the projector for about 5 seconds while the projector is being turned on.

To take the Keylock off-- Hold down the ENTER key on the projector for about 5 seconds. If the projector is in standby mode, you can release the keylock by holding down ENTER and STANDBY/ON keys simultaneously for about 5 seconds.

u have not mentioned how long u have been using this projector. either the lamp life is low or the circuitry protecting the lamp temperature is defective or even the air intake of the fan is inadequate, a filter is fitted for air flow if this is clogged or blocked, lamp temp will rise and unit shuts down. if lamp indicator is yellow or red it is time to change the lamp. if it is red - lamp is totally out, if u turn on the unit four times without replacing lamp, the unit simply wont turn on. one other possibility is power cable and power connections. check power cable too. 

Lamp ruptured, now it needs cleaning and new lamp.

if you don't hear a high-pitched whir, the colorwheel needs replacing. if you do hear it, the lamp may need replacing. if the lamp is new, there is a power supply problem.

if it's blinking green, nothing is wrong. it's just cooling. if it's blinking red and the lamp is off, the lamp door is open.

possible blown lamp I think that is what the flashing red light means check manual

check the power supply heard issues with this system like that but was all related to the power supply
