Do i need an installation cd

Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark X1270 Printer Driver on your computer. Select your operating system, download and execute the file. Follow the instructions on your computer screen.
For the Lexmark OCR scan software, it is only available on the Lexmark installation disc that came with your printer. If you lost the disc, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance.

You can download the Lexmark X1270 driver from the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/9Xw7bN. It's only compatible with Windows operating system. Select the correct driver. Thank you for choosing Lexmark.

I suggest not to plug the Lexmark X1270 printer to your computer yet. If you have the installation cd, insert it in your computer and install the software. If this is an upgrade to Windows 7 of a previously installed printer, please view the link "Upgrading to Windows 7?" at the top of the page.

you need to go to the "lexmark.com website" and download the new "vista" driver, it was looking for XP, and they are two different programs, also you can go to "control panel", and Open scanners and Printers, and see if the vista "hardware wizard" picks it up, and installs it too, let me know if this helps, god bless......

The only way to setup the printer without the proper drivers would be to use windows add new printer. However windows does not have lexmark x1270 listed. You can dlownload the software from lexmark & install the software / drivers without using the cd.
