Display doesn't turn on, emits short beeps and blinks lights

Thanks for trying to help. My Samsung Syncmaster 240T stopped working today. I tried turning it on, and it starter emitting a constant short beep once every 2 seconds or so, along with the green Video light blinking every time it beeps. The power light just blinks orange about every 2 seconds opposite the beeping. All the buttons are completely unresponsive, and so is the remote control. I can't turn it on or off anymore, as soon as I plug it in it beeps and blinks and is completely unresponsive. The backlight and everything else was working flawlessly yesterday. Thank you so much for any help or guidance you can provide!

Thanks for trying to help. Unfortunately the 240T is discontinued and no longer supported at Samsung's website. I might try giving them a call and see if they can offer any help, but this model is so old that I doubt they'll be able to do much.

Sounds like a low power problem, Check the power supply with a good ohm meter set to DC voltage if voltage is less than 14 v. Replace the supply. DWW

Irod I would go to the manufactures site. Use your favorite search engine enter syncmaster 240T support. Find the manufactures site and search for the support on that particular model. You may even want to download the manual and technical information. Alot of times the error codes are listed in the technical data. This will give you a foundation so you will be able to troubleshoot the problem.. hope this helps.

A fast blinking power light is an indication that the power supply is in a shorted condition. Parts called capacitors that filter the output power on the power supply board can fail and the power supply will short out causing the fast blinking power light. If you can solder then you can repair the monitor. Here is a link to a repair guide that has pictures and videos showing how to dis-assemble the unit and what to look for and replace to do the repair.

I have a samsung syncmaster 933SN monitor. It keeps blinking on and off. I have rebooted. Unplugged and replugged all connects from pc to monitor and it keeps bliking on and off.

If you heard a 1 beep that means your computer is working! But with 1 long beep and 3 short beeps or 1 long and 8 shorts beeps and no beep. That means there is a problem with you computer. Try cleaning your video card and memory pin using hard eraser and brush it using small paint brush. If still doesn't work try connecting your computer with different monitor. If still doesn't work, probably either your video card or system ram(memory) have the trouble. In that case you need to troubleshoot your computer component by testing 1 by 1 with working parts in order to identify the defective parts. Good Day

Hello,

Your Back light inverter power board has died. The beeping and blinking are caused by the power board repeatedly trying to start up and failing. This is a common failure point of LCD monitors2.gif after a few years of use. The heat build up in the monitor case causes parts called capacitors to blow leading to the power supply short. If you can solder you should be able to do the repair. Go to our web site at:
www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm We have pictures of what to look for. Now take the back off of your monitor and replace all of the caps that look like the pictures and you should be back going again. Be sure to use high temp parts, they will be marked 105c. The values you will need to get will be marked on the sides of the bad ones such as 220uf, 470uf or 1000uf. When you insert the new ones be sure to put the polarity stripe going the same direction as the old one comes out. If you have any questions just let me know. If you don't want to do the repair yourself we do offer a repair service for $30 + return shipping2.gif.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

The power lamp is blinking orange

Make sure it is plugged into a computer with a working video card. If error code is still there you have a main board problem. Who is the manufactorer?

Blinking power button

It could also be because there is a problem with the display controller in the computer. Try to hook up another monitor to this computer and see if it comes up. If it does not work with another monitor, the computer will need servicing. If the display does come up, the Samsung monitor will need service. Good Luck
