I have the very same problem and I have no knowledge of the backlights of LCD panels. Is there any way to fix this yourself?

The discoloration problem is due to the near by magnetic field appliances like speakers which are very near to monitors ...
so what you have to do is just keep some distance to the monitor from the speakers and other magnetic appliances and then press menu button & just give degauss..

When I turn on my computer the monitor turns on for about 3-5 seconds and then goes black. The blue light stays on and does not blink. If I turn the monitor off then back on it will again show the screen...

Had same problem, Monitor first turn on, backlight off after couple of minutes, off/on backlight off after few seconds.
Solution cut J503.
Found voltage OVPT (IC501,7) quite low (1.6V) this is the reference value for VSEN the over voltage value. By cutting J503, OVPT becomes 4.5 volt but is not depending anymore on the current through the lamps. Instead of the link J503 I solder 2x 1N4148 diodes which makes the OVPT not go below 2,8 volt. (diodes in series, cathode points to nearest board edge)

Flashing power button on Samsung SyncMaster 920NW

Yes, More than likely the problem with the unit is blown capacitors on the power supply board, the flashing power light is a good indicator of this type of failure. Here is a link to a repair guide with pictures and videos showing how to open the unit and what to look for and replace to get it back going again.

Samsung SyncMaster 920nw suddenly went black now squeaks/flickers

The 920nw did have a 3 year warranty on the unit but they will be out of warranty now. The flickering power light is an indication of a failure in the power supply board. When the board fails it can't start up correctly and the power shuts down over and over so you get the blinking light and no display. This is a very common failure point on all LCD monitors after a few years of use. There are parts called capacitors on the power supply board and they filter the output power. When they fail the power is not properly regulated and the power supply shuts down and tried to restart so you get the flashing. Here is a link to a repair guide that will show you how to dis-assemble the unit and then what to look for and replace to get it back up and running again.

Monitor goes blank after 3 seconds -Samsung SyncMaster 920NW

Could be a power issue. If it doesn't show anything at all then that may be the case. It may also be the display itself. It would be a costly repair so you might be better off finding a new monitor.

Samsung 920nw display stay only one min and off but power on

This is due to backlite problem of LCD panel.
You may approach authorised service center for this issue they will solve your problem. Do not try to do yourself unless you have sufficient experience on LCDS.

My samsung NW920 turns off after 1 min

If the blue LED ist blinking the monitor does not receive a video/sync signal. If the blue LED is on continuously and the display comes on for a few seconds and then goes dark or dim the backlight inverter may well be defective. The CCFL of the backlight needs several hundred volts to function.
