How do I get it to go into bios when pressing f2 doesn't work?

Per the internet site, it depends upon the model of laptop. Here are some examples:

Laptops - Access Bios Settings Key

Issue

The most common Access Bios key is the "DEL" button or "F2". This depends on the laptop model, however, and can be confusing if you do not know which key to press.

Solution

Here is a list of laptop models and brands with the keyboard commands / key for accessing the BIOS Setup:

Acer: F1, F2, CTRL+ALT+ESC

ARI: CTRL+ALT+ESC, CTRL+ALT+DEL

AST: CTRL+ALT+ESC, CTRL+ALT+DEL

Compaq 8700: F10

CompUSA: DEL

Cybermax: ESC

Dell Laptops:

Dell 400: F3, F1

Dell 4400: F12

Dell Dimension: F2 or DEL

Dell Inspiron: F2

Dell Latitude: Fn+F1 (while booted)

Dell Latitude: F2 (on boot)

Dell Optiplex: DEL

Dell Optiplex: F2

Dell Precision: F2

eMachine: F2

Gateway 2000 1440: F1

Gateway 2000 Solo: F2

HP (Hewlett-Packard): F1, F2 (Laptop, ESC)

IBM: F1

E-pro Laptop: F2

IBM PS/2: CTRL+ALT+INS after CTRL+ALT+DEL

IBM Thinkpad (newer) Windows: Programs-Thinkpad CFG.

Micron: F1, F2, or DEL

Packard Bell: F1, F2, Del

Seanix: DEL

Sony VAIO: F2

Sony VAIO: F3

Tiger: DEL

Toshiba 335 CDS: ESC

Toshiba Protege: ESC

Toshiba Satellite 205 CDS: F1

Toshiba Tecra: ESC then F1 or F2

Toshiba Notebook [Newer models]:

  • Turn on the computer by holding down the power button while pressing the ESC key

    • The machine will beep, then display:

    • Check System, then press [F1] key.

  • Release the ESC key

  • Press the F1 key

ABOUT BIOS SETUP DEFAULT PASWARD ACER 5573Z ASPIRE

There is no default password. The default is that there is no password set. If someone set a password it must be generated by a keygen based on your service tag or config numbers by Acer tech support. If you have forgotten, lost or never had one do not try removing the RTC battery or bother looking for non-existent jumpers as those only apply to desktop computers. The reason for this security is obvious. Steve

Pasward compaq harddrive pls guide it open and chang bard hard

To reset the BIOS password you must take out the BIOS battery on the motherboard of the computer.

On most desktops this is not a hard thing. Simply take off the side of the case, then take out the quarter sized battery on the motherboard, wait 60 seconds then reinstall.

On a laptop the same thing must be done but I must recommend you take it to a local technition as this is not an easy thing to do if you have never opened up your laptop.

Dell Latitude

ok, well, first of all, very very wrong category. You have a Dell Latitude notebook computer, not a Creative Zen Vision:M

you need to specify what screen you are able to go to. It could be that the BIOS master password has been set, in which case you need to take out the battery, unplug the laptop, and remove the backup battery (not sure if you are able to attempt this - i recommend letting a professional take apart a laptop as it is very difficult and time-consuming) to reset the BIOS. Can you hit F1, Del, or F12 while the computer is running the POST checks? This will get you into the BIOS and should allow you to remove any hard drive passwords or other security measures put in place by a previous owner.

Let me know how this works so I can assist you further.
