well if your lcd has no bulge capacitors test your tft lamp both top & down of the screen( particularly top) with spare tft lamp. or use another screen to test it. secondly, test the c5607 transistors in the inverter section but if you know how to use spare tft lamp very well , you will easily detect between your screen & the inverter
possible problem is your led light on your LCD or its Flex. you might need to have it replaced. Try to check your LCD when it turns black under the light if you can see a dark image of your desktop. If you can see your desktop then the backlight has a problem. If there is no display, your LCD needs to be replaced.
The monitor is probably faulty. To determine if the monitor or the video card is faulty, connect a different monitor to your DELL. If the image is OK on the other monitor then the other CRT monitor is faulty. Repairs to the CRT monitor may not be a cost effective solution, I suggest you buy a LCD monitor.
It sounds very much like an inverter issue. The inverter sits under the lcd screen in the screen plastics. It is replaceable, but obviously there is a danger the screen may get damaged.
Hi Danny, you haven't been very clear I will assume you pushed the auto configure on the monitor, I would go into the menu on the monitor and reset the size of the screen if it has a setting for that 1024x768 should fix the problem let me know what you find as I have never worked with a hp W19 monitor, if nothing else set the monitor to defaults again in the menu and that may get you back to having normal screens. The clipping sound is the internal safety switch that keep shutting down the monitor. It means there is an internal problem on the main board (overvoltage, bad component , short). Try unplugging power cord and leaving it unplugged two or three hours, this will reset ICs by draining power completely from circuits, it is called hard reset, it rarely works. CRT monitors waste up to 15 times more energy than TFT screen, if your CRT starts giving troubles, then it is a good time for upgrading it to a new TFT. 17'' start at $120
