Good day, 3 screws hold the ice maker in place. On some versions the 2 top screws are replaced with clips, but it is self explanatory. The cover is a tight fit, but un clips from the bottom first. You re-install by snapping it in place with the palm of your hand. The wire pulls straight out of the front of the ice maker and then you wiggle the rear off its mounting hole. HOWEVER, What you described is classic of a bad water valve. Especially the overflow issue. I would change the valve first, and if it still has issues then replace the ice maker.
For now unplug the pin plug at lower freezer door hinge and disable the dispenser control board until we see if the keyboard or the dispenser board is at fault. Sea Breeze
A lot of filters ( not all ) do not even access the ice maker . Only the water dispensor . If your water dispensor is working fine , then you need to replace the dual water inlet valve behind the refrig . This is the piece the wall water line connects to . It is called a dual valve because there are 2 coils on the valve . 1 for the ice maker and 1 for the water dispensor .
Pour about 1/2 cup of water into ice maker . If it dumps , replace the water valve . If doesn't dump , replace the ice maker . Also make sure the coils are clean of dust , lint , etc...
well first the icemaker valve and water despensor valve a separate so you might want to try but to change it out you have to change both valves cause they made together then also check and makes sure your tube is not froze up and if that aint it then change your icemaker now for a little tip the icemaker will not run as long as the freezer door is open
