Toshiba 61H70 No picture and no sound. Flashes red on the power.

Working great for many years and suddenly the picture went out and the sound was ok. Unplugged everything and re-plugged the power. Now there is no power and no sound. Is there something simple to try first before I call in the experts? Is there a fuse or something I should be looking at?

SOURCE: TP50G90 no power

sounds like something in the standby voltages most likely a regulator or leaky diode causing the problem.

SOURCE: red power light continuously blinking. no picture no sound.

It could be the lamp went out and needs replacement. The Toshiba website states when this happens to unplug the televison for 10 minutes then plug back in. If that does not work then try another power outlet. If that does not work then call for service

My tv has a red button on the front that flashes and no picture comes on when we try to turn it on with the remote

The Toshiba sets were well known for bad capacitors in the power supply. I recommend getting it assessed.

61H70 Common Problems According To Local Repair Shop

No Startup = Check Q404 (2SC5570) and pico fuse F470 (2A)

Dead = Check Q801 (strz4369, 23135015) or replace QA02

Intermittent Reset = Add cotton tape and capacitor (0.47uf) across pin 54 of QA01 and GND (CA61 GND side)

Dead Relay Clicks = Replace zener D878 (9.1V)

HOT Fails Often = Replace C403 (22uf/100V)

Picture Fades Comes Back Blurry = Replace Q510 and Q221

When environment temperature rises above 95 grade F, television goes out of convergence and vertical slowly rises from bottom of screen = Connect capacitor (10pF/50V) between R4013 (Q421 collector) and R4012 (Q421 base). Add insulation tape underneath capacitor as necessary.

Intermittently no blue colour. Distorted lines in picture = Replace Q751 (STK392110)

Rolling picture. No convergence. Red foldover = Replace Q751 (STK392110) and R7726 (1.2R)

No picture. Audio and OSD OK = Check R243 and R244 (22K/0.16W)

Q510 replacement = 2 IC types have been alternately used as Q510.a) TA1316Nb) TA1316AN...The 2 types are not interchangable. When replacement of Q510 is necessary, the original type must be used. Do not use part number listed in the service manual. Use part numbers listed. Q510, type IC: TA1316N - Use P/N: 23000358 Q510, Type IC: TA1316An - Use P/N: 23000584

Dead & Power LED flashes = Check fuse F860 (4A) for O/C, Q801 (STR-Z4369), D862 (NTE552). Also check zener diodes D873 (27V), D875 (9.1V), D877 (27V) and D878 (9.1V).

Hope this helps...Unless you know exactly what is going wrong, sending the chassis to http://www.ptscorp.com would be my advice.

Toshiba 61H70 projection TV. Perfect picture but the sound suddently stopped working. Tried all on screen settings and still no sound. Set is 8 years old but relatively few hours. Is it worth repairing?...

it sounds like the soundboard went out on the tv..its probably worth fixing but you have to know what you are doing if you do it on your own.it could be something more minor too but not sure
