GE Stainless Steel side by side fridge GS425JSRF - 2 ys old
The ice dispenser no lon ger works. The pressing glass to dispenser, the light dims and starts to flash off/on.
It dispenses water, not cubes or crush ice.
The fridge is only 2 years old.

Check the top of the fridge. The hinge on the left where the door is there should be a wire harness on the top, but on this fridge it might be at the bottom. Inspect all the wires to see physical damage of sorts. Then if you can, tug on them while someone holds the dispenser. You might need a whole new door if it's not the Mainboard.
Had the EXACT same problem with another GE side-by-side. Repairman just left and it was the main board that had to be replaced. It took him all of 5 minutes to replace and cost us $318. If you are handy, it is a repair you may be able to do on your own if you can find the correct model number and order it.
Problem is the circut board in the back, you can go to ge appliances.com go to service and support type in model# go to unit and main board parts to order.
afraid that sounds exactly like the problem.brand new fridge call who you bought it from they should fix it for free good luck hope this solves your problem
Could be the connector at the bottom of the freezer door corroded but it could also be the main PCB failing as the low voltage power supply may be dropping out . By the 'light inside' do you mean in the dispenser or inside the fridge ??
