SOURCE: picture in picture problem

When you use the Time Warner Digital box, you're using the tuner inside that box rather than the tuner inside your TV to select a channel. Picture in picture TV's have two tuner's inside so you can view two channels, but they can only tune the analog channels from your cable company, and only if it's hooked up in a manner that will permit this to happen.

So you only have one digital tuner (the Time Warner Box) so you can only view one channel at a time even though your TV supports Picture in Picture.

It MAY be possible to have limited use of the PIP if you connect your TV in a different way. Your Time Warner box is most likely connected to your TV set with composite cables, those are the Yellow, Red, White cables. If you buy a coaxial cable splitter and split the cable before it goes into the Time Warner box you can then run a coax cable into both the Time Warner box and the coax input on your TV. This would allow you to tune the analog Time Warner channels with both of your TV's tuners. In my area I think the first 60 channels or so are still available in analog, but there is no way to watch any of the higher premium channels without the Time Warner box.

If you go through these steps and you select the coax input on your TV your PIP will work on the lower channels. It MAY be possible to tell your TV to display the input from the composite cables on one of the PIP screens and the input from the coax on the other, but I kind of doubt it.

I know this sounds complicated and if you're not familiar with the way all this works it is complicated. The reason lots of people won't respond to this kind of question on this site is because there is no easy fix and by trying to help I run the risk of getting a bad rating. I don't get paid for this, I just like trying to help, so if I have not explained this in a way that's helpful to you please ask some additional questions before you give me a bad rating. Thanks.

SOURCE: No Picture Has a bright horizontal line with off white & gray vertical bars

The Problem Philips 27TS54 c101 27B800-7562 White horizontal line in the center of the screen. Color is present in the first half inch of the leftist corner of the horizontal line.
Audio is present and controllable. The green power led from a cold non plugged in state remains solid until CRT goes to ignite. A click is heard then the green power LED blinks.
I found service manual diagram of repair part or parts and install instructions

I request any info or tips you might have pertaining to this problem

On the CRT circuit board(picture tube), you will find R3340, which is a 10 ohm 1/3w resistor. The location of the resistor is printed on the bottom of the ckt board. It is burned open, replace with a 10 ohm 1/2w resistor. This will solve your problem. The original resistor was sized too small, should have been a 1/2 watt. This resistor is mounted standing up on ends. Mount the replacement resistor the same way. Be careful and don't get the circuit trace too hot and damage the circuit trace. (it's very small) The resistor is located on the crt(cathode ray tube), pcb(printed circuit board) socket. The resistor supplies apx +200v to the collectors of the r, g, b, video driver transistors. If this voltage is low, it causes excess brightness(excess beam current), causing the set to "shut-down". If the shut-down is too quick, you will NOT see the excess brightness, because the picture tube has not warmed-up enough to display anything on the picture tube. To see if the set displays "excess brightness", you will need to turn the set "on" about 5 to 10 times. This will heat the picture tube enough to display "excess brightness", IF that is the PROBLEM. Of course, there are OTHER defects that will cause a tv to shut down. There are built in safety circuits, that will "activate" if excess voltage/current or heat is detected anywhere in the set.

NOTE
My resistors are not numbered the same on my crt board APT187. GSM 02/20/2008

SOURCE: I have a Craig Model CLC501 and have to use both

Most cable supplies provide a switched receptacle on the rear of their cable boxes. Plug the power supply for the tv in there if you want the cable box to shut the tv off when you shut the cable box off.

I accidently put the rca wires in the wrong audio input/output on my craig cd graphics karaoke player.Could this be why i have no sound?

The RCA outs are designed to send a signal to an external amplifier. That amplifier, in turn, sends the music signal to speakers.
The RCA inputs are designed to take audio signals from another device (like an ipod, CD Player, or computer) and play it through the Craig System speakers. If you sing into the microphone, the vocals will be mixed with the incoming music. However, in these cases, there won't be lyrics on the screen. If you play a karaoke DVD in a DVD player, connect the red, white and yellow RCA cables from the DVD out to the Craig Inputs, the lyrics should appear on the Craig screen while the music plays.
If you mistakenly plug RCA cables into the Craig Inputs and plug the other end into an amplifier's inputs, neither will produce any sound.
Using RCA outs is only necessary if you want to have louder music than the on-board Craig speakers can handle. Of course, you can run the yellow video cable to a TV RCA input to get a bigger lyrics window and the RED and White RCA to the TV RCA Red and White inputs to hear the music through the TV's speakers.

Geat picture no sound from my craig 13" tv, hooked up properly to an att dsl cable box

Make sure that the sound output connectors (the red and white ones) are correctly plugged in (the colours corresponding at both ends of the 3-headed cable) and that the sound volume in the ATT box is almost to the max.

Green line down left side and geen snow

Horizontal or vertical bars on the screen could be from an ac line interference, adjacent magnetic field, bad input wire connections.....especially HDMI connector cables. A bad HDMI cable causes all kinds of unwanted picture interference. Check the conditon of all connection wires for proper fit and function. Keep in mind the method in which you connect your tv will result how the tv performs. As well this line problem could be a circuit issue too, requiring a technician to look at it.
