Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional With Servise Pack 2 (e8503040) for PC

Search Function I have lost my search function both from START and also when I try to search a folder. My O/S is XP Pro SP2.......IE6 I have tried the following: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoFind If "NoFind" has the value "01 00 00 00" change it to "00 00 00 00" and it will probably solve your problem. You will need to restart ("log off & log in" will probably suffice). # the above HKEY does not exist in my registry?. Fix search function working by running the following commands: regsvr32 wshom.ocx regsvr32 jscript.dll regsvr32 urlmon.dll Does anyone have a solution other than formatting, my XP CD is not genuine I think, it is called LazyXP ??? and burnt to CD.

CCleaner, this has a registry cleaner built in.
Its free and can clean your temp files, your registry, delete unwanted restore points, and clean up your start up folder, so you can stop unwanted programs starting when you boot up

How to find a lost file on your Computer?

Today tip will help you to enjoy the quick and easy way to find lost files on your computer. Here I recommends you, try to search a file with its file extensions (for example for word file, type *.doc, Excel *.xls, Acrobat *.pdf, *.ppt and *.exe for executable files. If you don't know the name of file but know that it contains a string of text then try to search for files containing specific text, type the text you want to find from any file or folder. This is time taking process but creates very precise result. In Look in, click the drive, folder, or network you want to search. To save time, always select the specified drive or location instead of whole computer.

Click Start Button, point to Search, and then click For File or Folders, a Search Results dialog box will appear. In Search for files or folders named, type the file name or folder name you want to find in containing text.

To specify additional search criteria, click Search Options, and then click one or more of the following options to narrow your search:
  • Select Date to look for files that were created or modified on or between specific dates.
  • Select Type to look for files of a specific type, such as a text or WordPad document.
  • Select Size to look for files of a specific size.
  • Select Advanced Options to specify additional search criteria.
  • Click Search now.

Hi, Look in your program files. R/click computer, R/click Local disc. Then right click program files. If the folder is there open it, reinstall office.
You can also go to search, type in ms office and see if the file is still installed.
If the file is gone you will have to reinstall using a ms office disc.

Unable to Expand a Folder from my XP CD that I NEED!

Have you tried to copy the compressed folder from the disc to your computer desktop and open it there? Give that a try and see if it works.... I have had this happen to a couple customers at work and I just copied the folder from the disc onto the desktop, opened it there and re-installed it. Or you could also try a repair install of the OS but it does carry the possibility of losing your data and programs.

Try Scanning your Computer For Computer Viruses.
then re-install Windows XP.
Your files will remain intact, if you select to leave the hard-drive As it is ( rather Than Format it ) or setup on a different Partition.
Backup your Valuable Docs/Files First.
Windows re-installation will replace any Missing-deleted Corrupt Files.
hope This Helps you.

Duuble clicking problem

If this issue is only relevant in the My Computer folder I would ensure you do not have any viruses or other malicious software installed.

Also, check your mouse setting for the double-click function

Then on the BUTTONS tab there is a section for Double Click speed with a folder icon for testing it out. Make sure it is set as required for your use.
